I've been skiing in the tahoe area for a few years, and have skied at kirkwood quite a bit. Perhaps its the fact that Ive never gotten to experience a good powder day there, but for all the hype that it gets, ive never had a great day - that is, ive never found any very good lines, as in trees, drops, etc that everyone seems to mention exist everywhere. I'm not looking for specific line information to be shared here, but if im going to buy another pass there this year, for god sakes i need to find where the good skiing on that mountain is. Also, any of you guys ski kirkwood on a regular basis? I'd love to ski with some people who know the mountain better than i do this winter.

This is also why I've been thinking of getting a pass to Heavenly or Alpine instead. Hell, I've even had better days at Sierra with their gate accessed stuff.

well no wonder you don't like it youve never had a powder day. plus there are cliffs everywhere especially over on skiers rightside of the "wall". thats where you will find a shit load of cliff drops.

Far right on the mountain - Air the cave.
The Heart chute and the chutes before and after.
All the fricken natural half pipes...

Haha, I remember the natural half pipes/walls. Those were pretty fun. I forgot how they got there though. Was it like a natural drainage thing or something?

Tahoe tends to get talked up. It definately has one of my favorite communities, but all this crazy big mountain Im hearing about is MIA.

Yeah, I know what you're saying but there still is some big mountain stuff. Mott and Killebrew Canyon at Heavenly are pretty nice and steep. It probably seems alot more big mountain to me since I'm from New York, but it's still pretty big and advanced. Also Kirkwood has some real steep stuff if you know where you're going and some sketchy chutes kinda. That one kid that was talking about the Heart chute or whatever at Kirk.

Kirkwood is my home away from home and def. lives up to all the hype and then some. but you gotta go on a powder day. It's epic.
The chutes and backcountry are off the hook.
