Grounds for a lawsuit??

#1 - Is your employer an at will employer? If so, yu've got nothing there.

#2 - You do have something there. Might be able to leverage something and say you won't speak if they give you something in return.

My old employer didnt pay people for training. I got fired and it went like this:

I was scheduled to work sat night and sun morning. as a rule, no employees ever had to open and close in consecutive. I didnt ask for the shift, it just showed up on my schedule. also all high school employees had to work one weekend day, but as you can see I was supposed to work 2.

My friend covered for me the first sunday because he thought it was a mistake and he was supposed to work then. He got fired because he was a half hour late to a shift that wasnt even his, and I didnt give him a lot of notice. it didnt even matter that he was late because nothing happens in the morning, one person can easily handle it without the second person (its a coffee shop)

so I sent her an email explaining that I couldnt work sundays because thats the day I spend with my dad. the next saturday night I was working and asked my boss if she had gotten my email. she said no, so I asked if she could see if she could get someone to cover for me because people kept lying to me when I asked them if they could (you know how it goes)

she said no, and that I was just gonna have to do it. I said that was fine and went back to work. 5 minutes later she pulled me aside:

"Jake, come in tomorrow and monday, and then I'm going to find someone to replace you. you just dont want to work."

me: "uhh are you kidding me, i work more than any other high school employee you have. I took an extra shift because you needed help."

her: "I dont want to argue with you."

me: "yeah, neither do I." I proceeded to head for the door.

her: "if you leave right now, that would be the most unprofessional thing you could do."

me: "you fired me mid-shift, what do expect?"


She spread a bunch of rumors about me to other employees and banned me from the store for life. this one kid gave her two weeks notice one time because he needed to focus more on school and she told him "no, youre not giving me two weeks notice because you;re fired."

she fires people on a whim all the time because she doesnt pay people for 16 hours training. I could contact the better business bureau but its just not really worth it man.

there are petty and immature adults out there, they have their own problems and thats why they behave like that. the best revenge is just to live well.

That is incredibly shitty.

At least you're not missing much by being banned from the place.

I know a guy who got banned from TJ Maxx's countrywide 'cause he got busted shop-lifting, but honestly, who the hell would know if he just went to another TJ Maxx.

yeah except for the fact that a lot of my friends worked there (four of my best friends, two still work there) and its where we always meet up to do stuff. but I cut my hair and she doesnt recognize me so I go inside now, but for a while I would always wait outside, sometimes in the freezing cold, while my friends were inside. it sucked.

she didnt ban this kid who stole 600 bucks from the register. she just fired him.

I think its kinda funny though, i had one shift where I worked with my good friend and her at the same time for 3 hours. she normally just stops by to check up on things but on this shift she would stay for 2 hours. I was high like 90 percent of the time on that shift and she never knew. stupid bitch.

what do u mean at will? its healthrax, its an enourmous corp so i doubt it

At will employers can be large corporations.

Basically they are generally non-unionized companies where you and your employer are engaed in a "at-will status, meaning you may choose to leave them whenever you wish, and they can terminate your employment at any point so long as it isn't done illegally due to race or prejudicials(age, gender, religion, ect) means, if they feel the need to end your employment status.

^^^ yea ok theres definetly not a union so i guess your right, so in that case, would they be able to fire me based on a bullshit reason, thats illegal right? wrongful termination i think

if your employed by a big company then sue they wont even know, but if its some guy dont sue him
