Has anybody ever proposed the idea of supporting vendors on NS? Like, let's take all the posts about Moment Ski's for example. If NS had an option of a company becoming a support vendor, Moment would pay NS a certain amount per year to have a user name in let's say a special colour and they could post all the information about their ski's plus even off special sales or promotional events. This could get more companies on NS (cheap advertisement plus a better communication with the buyer), and it could help fund NS and allow it to grow even further. More importantly threads like, "How does this ski ski? Is it the right ski?" could potentially become less frequent and people could get better precise answers straight from the company. Sorry if this was a long post, I was on another forum for my car and noticed it and thought it could be a cool idea for NS.
Thats a good idea, because it's only the tiny companies that really talk to NS. I could see smaller and core companies do this. It would be sick if pollard did that once in a while
I think that this would be a great idea just to get the ski companies word out there. I think that it would almost wash out though. Because there wouldn't be enough interest from companies, because they would have to be constantly checking, where they could just answer emails.
the hype that's generated on here comes for free. if a company is bad, people mention it and there are 2 ski companies that are repeatedly bashed on NS with maybe 1 or 2 people standing up for them.
also, when you ask somone from a company how their product skis, what are they going to tell you, "our product skis like shit"? absolutely not! every company is going to say "it skis awesome all over the mountain" even when it's a 69mm waist ski with edges that come back into the ski for rails and is a complete noodle.
If companies lie, then obviously they would not be allowed to post. They can come and offer information and show pictures/videos of how the product performs. And it's not just for ski companies. Take Jibij or Tramdock. They could come in and inform people of a sale. There could be a forum set aside of Supporting Vendors. Also, companies could jump in on a group buy. Let's say Surface comes on and says, "If we can get 20 people to buy the Live Life ski, we will sell it for 499." I don't know. It works very well on other forums and stops a lot of gossip floating around. It's not necessarily advertising like the banners. It's more so that the companies are on a better level with the consumer, which I think is very good.
All companies will have their own login account (if they make it) this year. Also, they will have their own landing spot, so you can get right in there and ask them questions! People can pay to have this stuff listed in other places, but each company out there will have the ability to create their own account where you can choose to recieve updates from them.
We encourage companies to answer posts in the forums, but we still do not allow promotion in the forums... its just pandora's box we don't want to open.
