? about punk mentality

I aloways thought that punk mentality was non violent and on the left wing of politics for the most part. so why do some punks and punk bands like Agnostic Front and Tiger Army call themselves Skinheads? doesn't Skinhead = nazi?

I know of and have heard of that song. I know that amny punk bands are anti nazi but that still doesn;t answer my ? why do they call themselves skinheads if they are opposed to skinheads?

what?! a skinhead isn't a nazi!!! research kids. the early skinheads were in jamaica! the early ones and alot of skins today choose to listen to ska...ska is pretty much ALL about racial unity, checkerboard patter= black and white mixed together...i've heard that the image 'no hair, steeltoed boots' was to protect them from head lice when doing manual labour...but i dont know more than that...


anyways, in the late 60s-early 70s a few racist groups chose to adopt the skinhead image including the British Nazi party, who recruiting skinhead poseurs, which were regulars at soccer games and often turned violent towards other countrys, thus became Boneheads....

'If someone allows their politics (be that left or right) to be the reason why they are a skinhead, then they are not one. If that is the case, then what they are doing is, using the skin image and culture for their own purely personal ends. They are either using the way society labels skins to reinforce the stereotype that a skin is only a skin to be racist (putting aside working class, skin history, culture, and loyalty in the process) OR (in the case with most modern sharps) because they think it is fun to go around challenging the stereotype image ( again working class, skin history, culture, and loyalty put aside). '

being a skinhead isn't about politcal views, anti-nazi or not.


there is NO set political view of skinheads, modern or not.

yeah, but uneducation in my opinion is no excuse to change the way you live...example: the breed of dog that i have is a keeshond, pronounced 'KAZE-HAWND'...it's dutch, that's the way it's pronounced, important to the roots of the breed. Yet 80% of the people that say it aloud, say 'Kees-HOUND'...why should the roots be ignored for the ignorant? it's better to inform people about it than to change the pronounciation to 'kees-hound'...same with skinheads, it's better to inform people about the roots and what it actually means than to just let it happen... alright, crappy comparison, but you get the idea...
