Anyone actually built a ski before? whats the best wood to use
i just tore my liebrum so instead of playing football and baseball this year im gonna make a ski, i have all the shit i just need to know what wood to use and any tips/advice i should know?
pretty sure it's maple or something similar, i think that's what a lot of companies use...i think the english used to make bows and arrows out of it, so yeah, the shit can bend pretty well without breaking
poplar or bambo because they are the poppiest. you could also use mable. I made a pair once, I laminated like three strips of poplar with two of mable inbetween, and I swear that this is the best combination ever.
this is a test core... bronson and i bought some lumber today to start building cores adn the rest of the material should be in late this week or early next week
stay away from aspen and fir, your bindings will rip out like none other, Maple is a good strong wood, bamboo is becoming more popular by the day, not heard to much on poplar though,
