so this season we are looking to do lots of filming, and upgrade all the gear. my friend is planning on buying a cannon hv20 for a camera. the hv20 doesnt come with the built in handle like the vx1000 and some other larger cammeras. so i have 2 questions, 1) How much will this affect follow cams without one?? and 2) Where is the best place to get one of the attachable ones?
make one. just get some thing metal at home depot and bend it, then drill a hole big enough for the tripod mount screw hole deal. It wont look like that one cause that one uses the accessory shoe but coming up and around from the tripod screw hole works fine. I believe the hv20 is a small camera though so a handle really isn't necessary at all. I made one for my gs300 but i stopped using it cause i could do a follow cam just as easy without. So you'd probably be fine without a handle, just get a fisheye and you're set for follow cams.
