ive gotten and paid off plenty of loans without a college degree and surprisingly with a rate lower than 6%. even people with impeccable credit can not get mortgages.

wow, good for you. did i ever say the only way to get/pay off a loan was to get a college degree? fuck no. what i said was that it's very easy for someone fresh out of college to borrow money, even without any credit history. how you misunderstood my pretty elementary post is beyond me.

i don't know what you are saying...the subprime mortgage collapse thingamajig doesn't really affect people with decent credit trying to get a mortgage.

surprisingly it does though. i do quite a bit of real estate and youd be surprised. before the turn around with the bank was about 2-3 weeks, now its taking months.

The best way to do things these days is to bypass the creit bureaus. As soon as I turned 18 I got an account with a big int'l bank (HSBC), put some cash in, later got a credit card through the same company, later got a 5% interest account through them, held it for 4 years with regular use, and now I can leverage a $240k 20 year morty at

The Fed rate wasn't at 1% 13 years ago, it was at 1% 5 years ago after Greenspan slashed it following 9/11. At that point in 02' it was the lowest in 40 years.

And this is also my most favourtist economics thread ever.
