True Center = Tip-to-Tip/2 or Running Surface/2 ???

So I'm getting my scratch fs wrs's mounted -2cm from center and want to clear something up...
I just read a thread - and I can't find it - that said if you're measuring based on the true center point, you need to measure the ski's running surface and divide that in half. More people agreed with this than those who said measure from tip to tip of the ski and divide in half.
The argument was that if you measure tip to tip and mounted true center - you actually have more ski behind your boots than in front (because of the lift of the tips off the ground), not what you normally want. But if you measure the running surface, you'll actually be skiing true center based on what is touching the hill while riding - which I think makes more sense, right?
So which is it? Anyone have a solid answer?

The true center is from tip to tail, divided by to, and the core center is from the front contact point, to the tail contact point divided by to. Both are different.

I understand that "core" and "true" are different, but I don't think that the center of core is necessarily the same as the center of the running surface.

i'm pretty sure core center is the "thickest" or "strongest" part of the ski, usually where the reccomended lines are. check out k2's for reference. true center i understand to be from tip to tail divided by 2.
if you find true center by measuring the running surface, i'm pretty sure the difference is so insignificant from finding it by using the tip and tail it won't matter a bit.

Anyone with FS WRS's want to measure for me and let me know what the difference is?
Tip to tip should be 181cm, so midpoint is 90.5cm
If someone has them around, can you get the midpoint of the running surface and let me know if it's still 90.5 or if it moves backward/forward?

my 181 scratches measure out to be 179

alright, if you're measuring tip to tip and getting 179, midpoint would be 89.5
If you measure the running length and divide by 2, where does that end up?
Also, where are yours mounted now?

my 181's are mounted at "true" which is just under 6 1/2 cm up from the "modern" suggested line
All times are Eastern (-5)
