Armor? Need some input

I'm a rather clean skier when it comes to safety equipment, though I've never looked at armor because of either weight or limited movement. Now there's this new armor from Spyder using the D3o technology.
Has anyone used this armor yet enough to give input? Is it worth its price tag?

which peice of armour is it?(ie. back)
it can all come down to what kind of skiiing you do
if i ever went bc and their was a shit load of cliffs, id prbally wear back armour if i ever messed up on a cliff

i dont see how a back protector would actually do anything unless you landed right on your back on somthing. other wise im sure it wouldnt do anything

Well, a spinal injury is the most common problem when you get to a high enough lvl. I believe that it would help you, though my problem with it is basically how agile I would be. I think that if you can't be agile enough, and you're out on a double black, then armor can be the cause.
Thus, the D3o armor I'm trying to get input on :P Flexable armor that strengthens on impact.

I can't see myself using full body armor, just because of the extra bulk and lack of mobility. I can however see myself purchasing some ass/hip pads in the near future, especially for riding an icy pipe.

Here, I'll post a link to what I'm looking into. It's from Spyder, called "Stealth Top". There are two versions of this. One is regular armor, the newer one is thinner with the D3o armor. (D3o is like a thin bendy material that's very light, and on impact with something it will harden depending on how hard you hit.)

there is no way that would do much in a bad fall onto some rocks. im sure its good for racing though.

Well, armor isn't there so you can be stupid. If you wear a helmet and hit a rock, your head wont break, but the pain will be there. If you hit rocks with any armor, it will hurt. Nothing's gonna stop that. It's just mean't to stop the breaking of bones really.
From what I've heard, that suit I gave a link to is just as good as any other breast armor that you find (minus the spinal protection.). I'm looking for someone who may have this, or a friend who does and can give some input on how it compares.

to my knowledge most park skiers and recreational backcountryists (pretty much 100% of this site) do not use armour. go on tgr. im sure theres a bunch of ppl on there that can help you.
