i have splashed the waters of both the competition pond and the film pond and gotta tell you, the one year i did half decently in competitions, all i did was ride park, hit 1 BC jump and that was it. this year i concentrated more on getting a better segment, and filming is 1000 times mroe difficult then doing well in comps. doing well in comps is doing tricks you know how to do, on jumps that are similar to what you always hit and you ahve been hitting them for days anyways, doign your run. most people that do well in comps dont show up, do there first run as there comp run and win. in the BC, getting the first hit shot is one of the sickest shots you can get, and even when you dont get that, there are only a few times you can hit that jump, not to mention the fact that you ahve to get to that jump(spend a couple grand on a sled), build it, and then hike it and all fo that work for less then 4 hits, sometimes none of them are shots. urban rails you've got so much pressure to get the shot because of cops, and more importantly in my case, fatigue. charging an urban rail as fast as you can to get a legit enough trick is deadly...that shti wears you out in no time. even park shoots at filming, theres way less presuure, but you are doing tricks that you don't necessarily know how to do or repeatedly trying ot make your tricks perfect. the pressure in comps is big, but it takes a whole year to film a segement, and i'd say a month max to win a comp. the end.
