i went for 3 double features on friday and saturday, and i can only say i really liked the experience. the movies were great, the seats were hella confortable and the crowd was nice.
only downpoint for me, in the middle of yeah dude, at exactly 7:24 PM, the guy 3 seats next to me threw up and it smelled like shit for the rest of the movie.

I loved it... nearly all the movies were dope as hell, I can't wait to ski haha. Canada was the perfect location, the after party on Saturday was sick. Last but not least, practically everyone including the people running it were trashed, which made it at least twice as amazing. Good work NS.
Doug, grab a shoe.

I loved the movies. Big ups to you guys for putting it on .. but honestly the NS awards were a joke. I was loaded and was having a good time and laughing at what a fucking retard tanner was, but i mean there was no professionalism in it at all.. i dont know what to think about that yet as i was expecting, and i dont know why, at least some.
I really felt bad for Charles Boileau. He was up there and was really the only guy taking it seriously and everyone was throwing shit and beer at him. I am surprised he didnt just say fuck it (or tabernack) and walk off.
After the awards were over was jokes. Getting to meet all the pro's in a club scene was amazing. When tanner started to fight my friend because he was throwing C crew signs at him was a memory that will last forever.
Overall i thought that SOME of the pro's just didnt give a shit about anything. That really let me down. I went up to Iberg and said hey man i love your movies and went to shake his hand and he turned around on me. Fuck you Iberg im not buying your movies now, which sucks because Idea was sick.
The 3 phils were cool. I found how to get to the place because i walked there with larose. Dumont was cool. Ahmet was bomb and had one of the sickest seg's of the year.
anyways thats it for now, it was a great experience to say the least.

I feel the exact same way. The whole experience was great right up until the awards, which were a complete and utter shit show. Between Party Boy Doug Bishop waving his own flag and slurring swears into the mic, Tanner reminding the world why we all hate him, the complete lack of organization and the questionableness of the recipients of some of the awards (I know I'm not the only one that feels as though (KNOWS) most of the awards were given to the wrong films!) the whole night was sorta disgraceful. Next time get real judges who actually give a fuck and maybe it will add some level of legitimacy to the awards, until then, looks like Powder Awards are the only ski movie awards worth a damn!

I really liked it!
It was super nice, the movie teather was real nice... the movie were nice too
I like how the movies were organized together I don't know if it was on Purpose
About people beeing drunk, I don't understand...it's a movie premiere... you gotta get drunk no? otherwise I have to say that first I was kind of piss that all the premiere were the same 2 nights,I mean what do you do if you can't go this exact two days... but I really like how it was finally and would like it to come back next year so I could take off in advance and go to all the premiere...

IF3 was awesome. hell yeah to Bishop, Felix, and JF for putting on a great event.
Now, you should all check out the Bula Poor Boyz Tour in Quebec City, Burlington, and Boston.

judges were totally legit.
Antony pretty much said it all, people are not always looking for the same thing in a ski movie.
I dont think some awards were given to teh right guyz but it's ok cause I dont have the same taste.

Completely amazing...
I saw every show (including the AMs) and had a large supply of beer the whole time (YEAH CANADA!!). I got shit loads of autographs... smoked a joint with Taner Hall... drinking games during the movies with ahmet and his friend... and the after party was epic! Also the free copy of Yeah Dude with everyones autograph made it even better.
If you didn't go, you lost.

Definitely! IF3 was amazing. I saw most of the films, missed out on the TGR section and Idea, both of which I was pretty bummed about missing, but it was SICK.
I had to leave the party Saturday night pretty early so I'd be sober to drive home by the next morning, which sucked....... but it was a hell of a good time.

Aw I'm super sorry you feel that way!
It was actually a very well-calculated decision to make the awards a total chaotic gong show. You see, we didn't want to re-create something like the powder awards, as they have their thing and we wanted to have ours. The judges were hand selected for their unique vision on skiing, and really did give a shit. Charles Boileau, Mike Burard and Anthony B. are all good people, and you couldn't ask for better judges. They had a very organized criteria for judging, and were really looking at all aspects.
The goal with all of it was to keep it loose and fun. Something like the powder awards is well-polished and perfect, but do you really want to see another version of that? Personally I don't. I wanted it to be the NS awards and be a rediculous spectacle of craziness that encouraged everyone to do what skiing is supposed to be about: Having fun.
There are way too many people in the industry of skiing taking themselves WAY too seriously, and I really think things need to lighten up. So that was my take on it, and I guess not everyone will agree.
Jakers I'm super sorry you weren't impressed, I was stoked to meet you and I wish that you could have felt the same energy as I did just getting together with other skiers and celebrating all these wonderful films that came out.

i loved watching all the movies. the movies were sick, wonderful, and everything else. I wasn't "unimpressed" persay, it was just so much less formal then i had imagined and it was almost a shock i guess i dont know, i still had fun.
Next year i think a sick idea would be everyone gets a "hello my name is" sticker and has to put there NS name on it. There would be so much more love between everyone maybe? Just throwing it out there i would be down for it.

I dont think the awards where what made IF3 it was about going to see movies, hanging out with a bunch of freinds, and getting wasted for 2 days. I dont see why people that didnt have shit to do with the movies care about the awards that where given out. For me the awards where just for show and it wasnt about that shit.
The only thing that made me kinda mad was that Radio Ron never got a ski. He was the person that should have got something becuse he is what skiing is about. Doug if you have anything to give to Radio Ron contact Geoff from Meatheads becuse that guy has 100 times more heart and soul then anyone else in there. He is a great person to look up to, SO GIVE HIM A SKI! I'm sure it would be the world to him, HOOK HIM UP!

Yeah see you got it exactly right, the whole festival was supposed to just be a really good time... sure maybe the judges got drunk, but they were having fun. It was just a great opportunity for everyone to get together and watch a bunch of movies. Plus we all got to see Kid Koala at the awards, which was what the night was really about for me!

Wish I could've been there, but as was stated, can't go spending travel budget before the snows flying.
I always miss the NS festivals. I missed it when NS came to Buffalo years ago (when Harvey still ran the site) because I was in Vermont.
Someday I'll actually get to attend a NS function. And I am glad it was a shit-show. There are too many people that take skiing far too seriously.
Lame that some of the athletes/higher ups blew people off though and looked down on others, but put yourself in their shoes for a minutes. They likely had people hanging on their sack all night long.

What about some other kind of really cool thing to hang on his wall?
The skis were really custom and kind of a one-time thing...
Hmmm... I'm putting the thinking cap on.

And i had some fun actually watching the event, but personally felt that alot of it was over the top. I feel like most the people involved w/ newschoolers and our sport arent even 18, and some of the content, while i'm sure they've heard it was a bit over the top. I think its one of those things where if it happens there cool, its your choice to be there. But i felt that maybe the content running through the site should've been a bit more filtered.

On that note basically all of TV and music should not be shown to the public.
What we like to do here at NS is show you the reality of things, not the watered down version... things do get a little silly and thats the fact. However, thats not only what it is about thats just one part of it. The other part of everything skiing related is the enjoyment of sport and the love of outdoors. We'll show that too once there's snow on the ground!

what about a painted out radio with "NS award 2007: personality of the year" written on it
