people should read up on this and find out what's happening and what they can do to help. There's absolutly no reason anything like this should be happening in the world today. This is only one situation like this, there are plenty others

Ahh man we had this lady come and talk to us about that at school last year, she was talking about how seeing that stuff going on has killed part of her spirit and how she's much more depressed now

It's situations like this where people are telling the U.S. to do something. Fuck you, you do something. We help out so much and yet, there are many other able countries that either contribute nothing, or a little of a fraction of what we do.

Darfur, it sucks and should be stopped.

they are asking for peace keapers to be sent. People to protect the villagers when people come to slaughter and rape them.

They aren't asking for the US to invade because they have weapons of mass destruction and when they find none stay there because all they wanted the whole time was oil.

Just because their government doesn't want the world to go in doesn't mean it shouldn't. Overthrowing that government and not even setting up a new one would be an improvement

you realize oil isn't relevant because gas prices are so high because of a lack of refineries, not oil right, which is why gas went up so much after hurricane katrina, katrina knocked out multiple refineries located along the mississippi river delta. Iraq, was personal vendetta, don't get your shit twisted, i'm not a supporter of bush, but i'm not ignorant, i check the facts before i come to conclusions.

yea, the gradually depleting substance that our modern society is based on has no effect on international policy.

Infact, the western multinational oil companys looking to privatize Iraqi resources are really only in the area for the weather.

obviously companies are now going to profit off of oil now that iraq's oil is open to trade on the global market, however stating the u.s. went there because of oil is ignorant, it was bush's personal vendetta to depose saddam hussein, face it it wasn't over oil the u.s. has billions of oil barrels stock piled for when the earth is tapped dry of the substance

Yea, and we have a "refinary shortage" because people have forgotten how to build them, right?

Ever thought that maybe the refinary shortage is due to the fact that soon enough there's not going to be more oil to refine? Better grab up the last bits of it.

The third largest oil producing nation should do just fine (iraq). We'll get the second later (iran). And the first's sultan is butt buddies with our president (saudi arabia).

You sure about that? I'm fairly certain that the reason oil is so expensive is not because we dont have enough refineries.

Also, when did we get shit for sending troops there? I know we sorta did with somalia, but the truth is, I dont care if we get shit for preventing or stopping genocides.

Yea, IF we had a billion barrels in reserve it would last the US 50 days. We us 20 million barrels a day.

that was a temporary shortage, they were not aware in the 80's and early 90's of how bad of a shortage we would eventually run into, bitch you're too liberal for your own good, god damn

oil discovery had peaked before 1970, and the 1973 oil crisis is when OPEC showed us that theyve got us by the nuts. We're reaching the production peak right now, new discoverys aren't keepin up anymore.

a good friend who i grew up with organized a large rally for save darfur. one of the world wide things. it was called 400,000 faces. she printed off pictures of 400,000 people in the facebook group and they each represented a person who was killed in darfur. she layed them down on our ymca floor. it was awsome what she did. there was suposed to be a concert with some pretty major bands (kim mitchel was suposed to play,) but it fell through because of lack of support from our school board.
i even have a wristband that says save darfur! (which she dontated almost all of her lunches to over a 2 month period. she spent over a year working on it.

The worst part about it is that the UN made commitments to send peacekeepers over a year ago and have yet to follow through. Way to never let another genocide happen again you fucking idiots.

We'll be busy making sure our interests in Nigeria are secure before long we ever really bother with Sudan. Nigeria is the largest oil producing nation in Africa and is 50% muslim, and climbing. Terrorist training camp relocation, anyone? "CIA intelligence report: Bin Laden in Africa!"

No real economic benifit in stabilizing Sudan, so we probably won't try very hard, sorry.

wrong, it's a republic, true democracy would mean that everyone in the world would have to vote on the idea, but instead they are represented. true democracy cannot be corrupted, republics on the other hand can very well be corrupted easily, now financial gain plays a huge role in politics, sadly there is no potential fr financial growth in sudan/darfur/etc..

what we have to do is take out about half of the iraq army and put it into darfur. a lot of the money we send there ends up to warlards and other types of people and sending food and water isnt going to maek a big difference. we need to go in there and take out the enemy
