I would recommend a Sony or Canon point and shoot in the 6-7 Megapixel range, if you are just getting in to photography but stillw ant to take decent pictures. I just made a review of the Canon sd800 ElpH
film will get you really good quality pictures, but it gets very expensive buying film all the time, and If you are going to take a lot of pictures and think you will mess up a lot, You really need to have your own darkroom, or access to one at school or something. i would say get digital if you are just starting off, because it is a lot more flexible and you can store pictures on your computer, and figure out a bit how cameras work. It is just more convenient to use, and if you really want to get into photography, buy a film camera later on. If you end up going to a school where they have fine arts, I knwo where I am there are all kinds of used film cameras and dark room stuff for sale dirt cheap.
