this fucking sucks. ive been in bed for the past 4 days with a fever between 102 and 103 and not a damn thing is helping me. my throat is so swollen that i can feel it touching the back of my tongue. the only thing i can swallow, still with pain is liquids. Does anyone have any remedies for this shit? anything at all? at this point im about to just rip out my fucking throat.

oh and the doctor said if swelling and fever doesnt subside by tomorrow then i probably have mono. so far its only getting worse.

heres how i see it...everyone gets pretty sick once a year..it wont be in the middle of january for you this year..thats a good thing

man they have antibiotics that zap strep fast as shit, and quick tests, too, so if you have it, it's easy to diagnose and take care of. i used to get it practically annually when i was a kid, and once i started taking the prescribed remedies, i got fine fast.

theres this antibiotic thats green that you can gargle its really good, ask your doctor. other than that drink lots of hot tea, take a lot of lozenges, maybe pop an advil or two. also try gargling salt water.

oh yeah and you might want to avoid taking any pills, try to make your body naturally fight it out and just use home remedies if you can bear the pain. it'll make your immune system stronger for next time.

ive been drinking chicken and beef broth all week and it only helps for about 10 minutes after i finish it. and advil, ive been taking plenty of it too. at least 6 a day and it kicks in in about 15 minutes but only lasts for about an hour. you can only take them every 4 hours, so for those 3 hours im even more miserable than i was before i took it.

Alot of my friends get sick once a month. I havent been sick in over a year now. Like, my entire family-we rarely ever get sick. I may get a cough during flu season (right now, and Im fine), but thats it. Never sick to my stomach or fevers. Must be the Ferguson immune system at work!

But to threadmaker, get well. Getting sick isnt fun, especially during ski season,

one thing i found with strep throat was to gargle with some sea salt mixed with warm water. it tastes awful but helps make it feel a little better. Thats one thing that my doctor reccomended to help it heal and get better

yo i had that shit it hurts so bad. mine actually got infected and i couldnt talk or anything or even swallow or drink for 3 days. then they had to cut my tonsils open and drain them of shit twice and steriods and antibiotics kicked its ass

yah man sounds like u got mono exactly like my symptoms also feeling real lazy and dead tired with absolutely zero energy like to get outa bed to move around luckily i only had it for a week before i cleared up some ppl it can last up to 8 weeks

yeah. i feel lazy as fuck and my knees are all week. the only way i can sleep is curled up in a tight ball, and then i sweat my ass off cuz of the fever. and i think i do have mono. i looked in one of my moms medical books and i have all the symptoms of it. fever, throat, swollem lymph nodes, occasional hives. if i have mono im going to the doctor tomorrow and getting fucked on steroids

Watch out for your spleen. It gets inflamed and can explode if it gets jiggled around lots. But it sounds like you are taking it easy. Sleep as much as you can - which probably is a lot.

epic bump, but i thought it was appropriate. i happen to have strep and mono as well. i have not been sick in literally 10 years, and now gods wrath is upon me 10fold for my plagueless teen years.

seriously though, im about to perform a home throatectomy. i have never had such terrible throat pain, i literally have pus in my throat and it smells like horrible shit no matter how much i brush my teeth, gargle warm salt water, mouthwash, etc. im tired, weak, and have lost 20 pounds in 2 weeks. worst of all, i cant call out of work anymore so now i have to wear a mask at work or i risk killing (yes KILLING) the immunocompromised people i take care of.

im about to start a course of amoxicillin and hopefully that will rape this stupid disease. seriously though, it sucks cause i HATE the thought of taking antibiotics, but i feel like im close to death here so, im taking them i think.

and ohninelines can vouch for me i was pm'ing her with how jacked my throat was last week!

take small ice pieces and let them sit in the back of your mouth or throat, they will numb the area helping with the pain in your throat

yep, i get really sick about once a year
last year i had a high fever and threw up the whole time, this year in early feb i got the flu for a week and a half, and years past i've always gotten sick around jan/feb

as for the throat, drink hot liquids, constantly suck on cough drops and stuff, and sucking on ice helps too
