East Coast All-Mountain Twin...Opinions wanted

the 185 arv might be something to look at. although i hear they made it a little stiffer this year. also the brigade/bc would be a good option, i posted a thread about them and theres a lot of people's opinions on them. i'll post the link at the bottom. lizzy's i think might be a little too wide for east coast, but if you ski at a place where you can find a lot of stashes then it would be really fun. also people were suggesting seths for me but i don't know too much about themm i would check them out though

i was going to say 185 arv as well... you really seem to be pushing the soft idea... arv...

Just reinforcing the idea of soft so people don't step in here suggesting stiff skis, despite what I have stated I want.

I'll look into the ARV. I've heard it was a soft ski. I wouldn't be adverse to buying last years to save cash either.

I'm hesitant to go with a K2 simply because I have skied the PE with multiple mounting places and absolutely HATED it all times. Maybe the Seth is different.

It sucks though, because I cannot demo because the only skis demod around here are thin carve skis.

The first ski that came to mind when reading you post was the seth. I have them and I love them. Im a lot lighter than you so they will ski a lo softer for you than I so that would be good for you. You mentioned the lizzies but were concerned with the length. If you wanted to go that route just get the bacons... same ski just longer and a tad bit wider.

I don't have the cash now. I am getting a big bonus at work at the end of September but really shouldn't be spending it on skis, but you have to go dangling a deal in front of my face.

As for the SFB... I guess they aren't that much wider than the Lizzies. Has anyone ridden them on the EC? How do they take to all around conditions?

i think 185 arvs would be ideal.
you're kinda in between sizes with the seth. 189 is prolly a bit long for ec and 179 too short.

so arvs represen the softer option. step it up to a 185 brigade if you wanted something stiffer (not thay they're very stiff)

either of these two would be sick, tho others to consider would be 185 volkl bridges, 182 salomon guns, 186 liberty hazmats or 186 fischer misfits. idk about bacons, never skied them.

They are fun to ski, but don't do that great in soft snow. Playful is key.

The ARV's seem like a good fit, just don't want to rule out the SFB as a really fun, fat surfy ride. Just want to hear some opinions of someone who may have ridden them, preferrably East Coasters.

Well heres my thoughts, In 6'1'' and 175 Lbs working my way up to 185 by season. I ski the east coast. This yea I have the ARV, i always loved softer skis over stiff ones to. I would say that there deff the way to go and the 185 which i have would be a good size for ya

looks like everyone is saying the ARV :) Let me be honest for a bit, since I am the seller. I have ridden both the ARV and the Bacon (which I have now!) on the EC. Both are extremely fun. Both are pretty soft (the Bacon I think is even softer). I would have to say the Bacon is even more fun on groomers because they have a much better turning radius so they carve well (19.5 SFB vs ~23 ARV). However, if you are skiing park at all with your fatties, the Bacon is not ideal at all. They are SUPER heavy - obviously so because they are a giant ski. Little hits where 3s would normally be fairly easy now take a lot of work. Also, you wouldn't want to take Bacons in the pipe (some might, but holding an edge seems hard to me). The other problem is that Bacons are going to be expensive comparatively. If you find them for less than even $400 used I would be surprised. So, pros for the ARV: cheaper, better all around. Pros for SFB: greater carving, slightly more fun. Your call. (This is where I shameless plug to sell my great deal). However, you can get brand new ARVs that will last a few years for only $275 in the wrapper. :)

Well, thanks for your honest opinion on everything. Park performance isn't that important, as I intend on having a dedicated park ski. It's moreso thinking to that thought that I could take a run thru the park without needing to feel like I have to change skis. The nearly symetrical design aspect of the SFB is very appealing as well. I love the way my Invaders carve and arc turns and how agile they feel.

Those ARV's are a great deal though. Which is appealing. I need to look over financial aspects, and see what I decide I really want.
