So I'm looking into buying subs. A kid i know said last night that he is selling his. He has 3 12 inch JL w3's. they are a year and half old but still pound. He said he would sell me them for 500 but he would sell me the amp too for 600. Think i should do this or keep looking?
seems like a decent deal, if he has them hooked up so you can listen, and everything sounds like its working right, go for it. but also, try posting this in the stereo cult
if he pounds them all the time, then u prolly shouldnt get them. it depends on how ur "pounding" is tho. my friend heard this guys music the other day, and yeah, it was pounding. so my friend pulls up next to him, changes his amp from 60% to 100%, puts the volume almost all the way up. the guy next to him was mid-song and looked over cause he could hear my friends over his...by a lot. if ur friend runs them at a high volume all the time id say no, if he runs them at like 60% and occassionally higher, then yeah
ive been looking into subs for my car too. i havent had time to do a lot of research on the subject and am still a little bit unsure with the wiring. i already have an amp and an EQ and im not entirely sure with all of the mechanics of a car stereo. i could use an invite to that cult too
yea we gotta know what kind of amp it is...and what kind of vehicle your putting it in...putting 3 12's in the back of a car is overkill...especially if your short on cash...with the right set up you could get one 12 to pound just as hard
just get a nice 8 or 10 and then get a full set of nice SPEAKERS, and amp those. dont get some fuckin nig set up just so can look retarded and get harrassed by the Jakes.
I got 2 JL 12 inch subs with a 600 watt amp for 275 bucks in all. They are 3 years old and are fine. The age of the speaker doesnt really matter unless its over 10 years old. I would keep looking cause 600 bucks for 2 12s and an amp is ridiculous.
