HELP! XBOX 360!

Alright so I'm thinking of getting an Xbox 360, here's the problem: Do I get an Elite or Pro?

Based on an EnGadget review they are almost identical (in terms of heat, noise, graphics, etc) and the only differences are very subtle. From Wikipedia I can gather the only tech differences are a 120gb hard drive (Elite) vs. 20gb (pro).  The Elite also comes with a Separate TOSLINK and RCA out cable (I have no idea what this does or means, halp?). 

So my question is: is it worth spending extra money on an Elite? The only huge difference I've heard of so far is the hard drive obviously. But is 20gb enough for saved games, patches (I'm assuming some games add new content and fix bugs) and the occasional movie or photo?

My biggest concern is probably the hard drive difference. Thanks in advance for the help.

20gb is fine for me, except i can only hold like 10-12 demos until itss full. id save some dough and buy an extra game.

do you have an HDTV? Are you planning on getting one? Does it have HDMI? The elite has HDMI out which gives you the best picture and audio. The big hard drive is really nice, especially if you ever want to download movies or tv shows from the marketplace. HD movies can be like 6 gigs. I would go with the Elite personally.

i play my pro on my hd tv fine. i thought both came with hdmis

Get the elite so you can say on xbox live, you can say you are 1337.

i heard the new pro's will have hdmi out on them but i dont know if they have been released yet. the previous pro's have had component HD cables which still looks really good but hdmi is a little step up. if i could trade in my pro and pay the difference for an elite i would get the elite.

my advice to you comes down to whether you will be playing on an HDTV or not. if not save the cash and get the pro(although its a whole different experience in HD). If you will play in HD then get the elite because HD movies are pretty damn cheap on xbox live and take up way too much space for the 20 gig hard drive that comes on the pro. the pro will have enough space for game saves and a few demos, but if you run out of space your going to have to drop $180 for an elite hard drive.

^instead of paying extra, you could get a standalone HD, and transfer to that.

yeah you can always just get another hard drive , and just use that for demos or movies or something

like an external hard drive that just plugs into one of the usb ports? if that works then i would definitly go that route but i havent heard of anyone doing it and i wouldnt put it past microsoft to disable that somehow.

Get Pro. All the Elite has is a HDMI card, whatever that is?

No I don't have an HD TV and don't plan on getting one.

My main concern is about the hard drive, and if 20gb is enough for keeping saved games.

Also has Microsoft announced any upgrades or price drops for the near future, that are worth holding out on?

20gb is fine for saving games and downloading 10 or so demos. get the pro and spend the extra on games or whateve

they just dropped the price so it'll be a long while before another drop, if your just looking for saved games and some demos the 20gb should be ok, it has been for me. So unless you want to throw all your music and videos in there you should be ok
