ski size for me

im looking for a new pair of skis for this upcoming winter. im leaning toward line mavericks because i ride park and hit groomed mts and that skis r affordable. Should I get 150cm or 160cm? I'm 5'4, 140lbs. i used to snowboard btw.

yo may wanna go up to a 165, becuase you'll grow and your prob gonna want your skis for more than 1 season.
like maybe 165 tms or you may wanna go a bit bigger with a 168 maybe

Naw, I'm 22, I highly doubt I'll get taller than 5'4. Would 160cm be too tall for me? I skied my friend's Mike Nick's 142cm few times and fell in love with skiing. Would I have hard time skiing on 160cm?

Well, Ive skiied all my life and found that a longer ski has more advantages and plus like the other dude said, you can grow into them. More use. Its easy to adapt to a longer ski than it is going the other way around.

If your 5'4' I would get 160cm. at least. A 165cm or bigger would be better though.

ya go with a 165, youll like it better for landings, and pop. You'll also have the xtra length for the out of park days

also, please give me advices on handling long skis. it will be a huge jump from 142cm for me.

dude you will be set with a pair of 160-165 i think....i skied that size when i was about your size. and as far as tips for using longer skis all i can say is get used to it......142's are too short for anyone over the age of 10 no matter how big you are

The Dynastar website recommends you get a pair of 165cms. I think 170 would be good though. The biggest ski I've rode so far is a 168 Volkl V ski, but I think the main difference is your turns will be wider and little harder to make at first. Im getting a 175 TM though and im 5'9', and Dynastar recommends a 180cm. for me.

lets just say when i was 5'4 i was on the 164 line 1260, and it was perfect. since your stopping growing and your going out of the park, you should get a ski around 175 with a base of 78 mm or more

When I snowboarded a lot & used my friend's Mike Nick 142s twice, I dont really hit the park much. I usually lay out long carves & do big jumps on groomed terrains lot more than parks because the landfills I ride at doesnt have rails & shit. I'm a speed demon. So do you think 170s will be good for me for going fast & hitting huge jumps? Will the long skis get unstable on high speeds?

Also, when I buy a pair of skis & bindings; should the bindings be centered or closer to tail? I have a problem with maintaining balance in midair. thanks

Big jumps + going fast = Long, wide stable skis. You should definitely, no question about it get at least 170's if thats what you want to do, I am positive. Big skis will help you land off big jumps, and will be good for speed and big wide turns. Unless you want to do little turns, i have a pair of 155cm fishcers for that. Yeah and you want your skis mounted back a little, not centered, well at least i like my skis not centered.

Well, I'm only 5'7', 125 lbs. I ride scratch 168 and it's no prob. I've even thought about going bigger.

go with the 160 you will get more use out of them and longer skis are just cooler.

i'm 5'5 and i ski 171's....they work perfectly, plus i weigh 15 pounds less than you, 160's are too small

i'm 5'9', 140 i ski 163 mad trix, they were my first twins, i know they're too small so i'll up it into the 170's when i buy new skis

im 5'8 145 ridin meh 153 volkl v-legends omfg i love them so much for park w00 they are ownage i also go some 2002 public enemy 173's they are pretty seksi.

i would say at least 160, but the 170 maverick might not be a bad idea, because of wht kind of skiing you do. once you get used to a longer ski, it's so much better.
as for binding mounting, if you do a lot of park, mount it farther forward, if not, mount it farther back.

Hey bro, definately go bigger than 160, i'm 5'11 and the first good twins i got were 169, they were ok but this last season i got the 181 1080s and they're fat and long and sooo sick. go longer, it takes a little getting used to and you might think you're too big at first but trust me its worth it once you get used to them...not only do they ride nicer but it looks sicker.
