I saw it for the first time today, and well I got what I expected from the trailer which is good. I enjoyed the transitions between shots and segments aswell the powder and big mountain skiing percentage. Its good to see CR back and the baker segment and pillows are just insane.
Some dopesaucy pillow riding for sure. Seth killed it as always. Those urban drops onto the B-Ball court were pretty cool. I enjoyed the movie overall, just wish it was a little longer. I think that maybe a Tanner pipe session and some more Ant "50 cent" Boronowski would have been a nice addition.
The pillows were insane for sure. It was kinda short, but still, you can see my house in it and I'm happy about that. I was disappointed when they said they were pulling the plug on Vancouver/Whistler though, haha
i personally really enjoyed the whole dramatic theme to the movie. and pretty much the whole time they're skiing neck deep pow and dropping hundreds of pillows. totally sick
"shout" completely and utterly ruined it for me though, i don't care how good seth and tanner's alaska skiing was, that song is god-fuckin-awful.
Believe is really sick. It's exactly what you'd expect: mad pow. And it does an excellent job at that. Also, the soundtrack is really really sick. Production wise, I thought it was extremely cinematic and crisp.
i loved idea and i thought believe was the worst piece of shit since...well....show and prove. it was 20 minutes long, way to fucking dramatic, cr had that stupid speech in the middle. the only good part was the Petit brothers, other than that it was all shit we've seen before. no big.
That's your opinion, and your entitled to it. In my opinion you don't know shit. Sure it had a more serious tone and it was short, but that doesn't discount the fact that the skiing and cinematography was sick. "seen it all before?" Those pillow lines were progressive, 1st time Seth's done a double front off a 100+ cliff, I've never seen an urban drop onto a B-Ball court like that before, 1st movie with ARG's...oh and show some respect for CR kid.
I think that this is by far one of the best movies out this year. The skiing was amazing (Ian Provo's tail tap in Japan was sooo sick) I thought the soundtrack complemented the riding and the whole feel of the movie. Out of all the movies I've seen this year Idea and Believe are the best out.
and you're entitled to your opinion. but 1st off, bball court, i clearly said: petit brothers, good seg. meaning bball court. 2nd, i dont understand how having a movie with ARG's makes it progressive. its a ski dude.
and lastly i have tonnes of respect for CR, i just think that speech was fucking useless. yeah...we know you cant hit your head again, thats kind of obvious.
Couldn't you see those ARG's stroke those pillow lines? I think it did affect the way they rode lines. Last year Armada had a whole story about the way the ARG's allowed for a new style of pow/pillow riding. Useless? CR is just sharing his experiences, his inner thoughts. If you don't care whatev but I think he has earned the right to speak, be heard and respected among the fs community. Can you imagine going from throwin bio 10's and bothside 3's off 70 ft'ers to just being paranoid when riding pow lines? I can't, and I appreciate anything he would care to express about it.
I thought believe was pretty good. Shout is pretty risky to use in a ski movie but I think it really worked. I love the rice vs hall segment in the extras too.
i purchased idea and believe and they are both real sick... no complaints about anything. In some ways the movies really complement eachother with really similar riding environments, fat skis, and sick beats (except fuckin shout). but a park segment would have really made believe a contender with IDea
I thought it was a great film, and really enjoyed it a bunch, the skiing was prime, it may actually be my favorite soundtrack from this season as well.
it was definately a sick film. the pillow section intense and i really like the fact that tanner didn't show his whole x-games run. i wish they had more urban stuff though.
i just wanted to put my shout out to believe, Its was way good the first time i saw it and the more i watch the better it gets.
tanners double backs were cool too.
do they do the video like they did SHow and Prove? like is it a "ski movie w/ a story"? or like is it just like a bunch of location segments like show and prove was?
If you haven't seen Idea or Believe (or want to watch again!), and you live in Salt Lake, you should probably come to the premierS. THIS FRIDAY @ WESTMINSTER COLLEGE IN JEWITT, DOORS OPEN AT 7:30! MOVIES START @ 8. IDEA AND BELIEVE DOUBLE FEATURE, PRODUCT GIVEAWAYS AND GENERALLY JUST A LOT OF SWEET SHIT.
I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by this movie. Lots of pow-gasmic skiing, good Ja-pow segment, good AK riding and big tricks in the BC. I thought I was in for a movie about Tanner Hall with mostly park but it was in fact a good mix of athletes and lots of drooling powder.
I really enjoyed the movie. I didn't see Show & Prove but I hated WSki106. Seth's 120 foot double front was insane and the pillow lines were probably the best I've seen in any movie. Ever. The Japan segment was sweet, but TGRs last year was a little better. The opening segment in Baker was ridiculous though. Especially so because it was all filmed in November. And it was an ARG orgy pretty much all movie long. I can't wait to get back out on mine.
