I've been going to psu for 4 years now and let me tell you... it's the greatest place on earth. The college is SO SICK.
As far as skiing is concerned... it's somewhat sucky. We have Tussey Mtn that is 10 minutes away, but its really beat. (Check the site...). Aside from that, there is Big Boulder Park which is about 2 hours away and has about 5 terrain parks. We also have Ski Roundtop which is also 2 hours away and is okay too.
I am the webmaster of our snowboard club, which is like freeskiers and snowboarders. We have about 450 members and travel during the year. This year we are going to Killington, Quebec City, and Stowe. We also take local trips on weekends and trips to tussey during the week.
So, if your college decision is 100% based on amazing skiing, don't come to psu. But, if your looking for one of the best colleges in the country, and can deal with the skiing situation, this place is for you.
PM me if you have any more questions about the college.
like Jason was saying, our skiing situation is not one of the best, but we do have one of the better snowboard (and freeskiing) clubs on the east coast. check out our website at www.thepssc.com for more information. the riding around here may suck, but last year we made it out of PA almost every weekend.
the only reason why i left penn state- soley based on skiing. transfered to a new england school to party and ski and it was the best decision ive ever made in my life.
