i posted in the "Send JD to IF3" thread found in NSG that i felt the idea of collecting money from kids on the internet just so you could have a weekend of partying was selfish.  for whatever reason, JD thinks i was trying to start a flame war, so, without even contacting me to learn my true intentions, he banned me.  i believe the whole "Send JD to IF3" threads are unethical and inappropriate and i'm entitled to my own opinion and allowed to express it.  JD, though, doesn't believe in free speech and will likely delete this post and ban everyone i know.

honestly, all i did was post my opinion.  i wasn't racist, homophobic, sexist, i didn't call anyone any names, and i posted as maturely as possible.  and he over reacted and banned me.  i disagreed with what was being done, i voiced my opinion, and he banned me.  if anyone's interested, i'll gladly post the PM he sent me this morning... i think it does a good job illustrating exactly what i'm up against- persistant pussification and total ineptitude.  the guy seriously has no spine and apparently is incapable of taking criticism.

but i'm stoked, after his powertripping and smugness, to be back with the Bishop apologizing for JD's immature behavior.  glad to see, at the end of the day, regardless of what goes down, Doug continues to be THE shit.

I mean, there's plenty of people out there who can't afford to eat, and we're raising money to help somebody afford a vacation?  I'd rather take my money and buy a homeless guy a sandwich.

But whatever...back to your regularly scheduled PH programming.

I've kept my mouth shut up until now, and I understand the good intentions, but it is wrong.  What it will inevitably lead to is a ton of "help soxripper go to Whistler for WSI", "help eastar5 pay for a spot at USFO", "help eheath pay to go to aspen for the meeting" threads.  You really want to go?  Be like every other person; sell your shit to pay for it, put it on a credit card, or find more time to make money and pay for it.  This charity is a bunch of bullshit.  Why does JD deserve to go more than Ryno?  Why aren't we doing a send Ryno to IF3 charity?  Or how bout Freezed?  I can name a number of west coast mods that would probably love to go and can't afford it. 

*Disclaimer* This isn't me shit-talking Ashley, JD, or anyone else.  With two jobs and school I'm swamped and in student loan debt, but I'm not here looking and definitely not accepting money from people.  Especially people I don't know beyond the internet.

Bottom line, it's life.  JD of all people, looking to be a lawyer, should know this.  If you can't afford to go this fall then start saving for next fall.  I can't afford to go cat skiing this winter, but I'm saving to do it next winter.  

Banning someone for speaking their opinion on this matter is ludicrous.

i was also just stating my opinion on the matter.

I'm sorry, but helping someone for pleasure does not rate when the same money could be going towards helping someone that really needs the money for food, shelter, medical, or school.

As much as crazyfuck is just sitting here looking to argue (and i don't agree with most of the bs that he posts), he currently has a valid point.  I wanted to say something before but I've been trying not to be a bitch in here.

That's my two cents.  Good luck with your donations.

I agree Mike.. in a way it's selfish to think, "why someone else and not me." I see the points being made think they're of value, but also see how our society through capitalism is set up to put us against each other... to fight for resources. I like the opportunity to help someone out, i already feel like i've gained a community even a type of family here in PH therefore if people want to pool some of their extra cash together to help someone out I think it's a generous and beautiful thing.
I am however a FIRM believer in freedom of speech, and i think deleting crazyfuck's posts and banning him even if he is a crazy fuck ;) is WRONG. period.
Sorry i know we're trying to get away from this topic.

Nobody's thinking that.  We're thinking, "Why somebody who doesn't need help and not someone who does?"  Start a "PH Feed the homeless thread" and I'll gladly send money, but I think it's ridiculous for an upper middle class student to have an online charity drive in order to go on vacation.

I get where both sides are coming from. Both sides have very valid points. It just comes down to what you believe in. If you believe what I'm doing is wrong, so be it. I value your opinion. Don't help out, simple as that. For those of you who were generous, thank you. It's certainly apprecaited and doesn't go without great thought. You will be repayed with drinks and good times. Straight up.

Just because you don't like it, doesn't mean I can't do it. Amanda, you didn't come off as a bitch. Just expressing your opinion.

I see that, but to me that's a little different.  Not sure how to explain it though. 

I guess when it was just in here it was like whatevs.  People that socialize with each other all the time wanting to help another.  When it moved to ladies men and then nsg I thought that was excessive.

I completely agree with everything you said.

Also, I understand how people are saying it's just like buying drinks for a friend. But do your friends ask you to buy them drinks when you go out? I help out my friends when they need it, or if I'm feeling especially generous, but I have never once heard them ask me for cash for anything. To me that makes a big difference.

I think all of us are smart enough here to understand the difference of real charity and helping pay for somebody's vacation. If you don't like it, you don't have to participate, I don't know why everyone is getting so pissy about it. Who cares if you think it's wrong or selfish, nobody is forcing you to do anything about it!

If, when it was out there in NSG, some young kid saw it and wanted to get in good with the NS popular people (or whatever else motivation), but didn't have a credit card/paypal account, I'm sure as soon as he/she asked their parents to set one up and explained why, they'd be put in their place pretty quick. My brother (Mattman) tried this with my parents like 6 years ago when he wanted to donate to NS. "Donate to a skiing website? You've got to be joking" and that was the end of that.

If you are old enough to have a credit card/paypal account you are old enough to make your own decisions about something like this, for better or for worse. Stop trying to play moral policeman.

i was talked down from razoring my wrists tonight.  i'm stoked to have a younger brother.  kid called while i was sitting in the bathroom, said he just hadn't talked to me for a bit and wanted to see what was up.  second time he's literally made me snap out of it.  tonight's been heavy.  got a new haircut, too, which i suppose i'm stoked on.  i'm not so stoked on life, though...

and i don't want sympathy... i just don't have anyone else to talk to, so i figured i'd just be stoked on my haircut here.  go home-made mohawks.

You say your stoked on having a little brother?? Maybe you should call him next time your down in the dumps. You certainly shouldn't put a razor to your wrists. Totally able to lift heavy objects again.

Moved a pretty heavy picnic table last night, and eased a 100lb+ moving tote down into the basement. (There is no way that's going to fly though, crazy fiancee just loaded a 3 foot wide tote with books. Insane amount of weight.)

All this is carrying weight. I can't lift over my head though, and my range of motion is currently shot to hell, but I am confident that will come back over time and improve.

I'm just stoked that I can lift heavy objects again at all. That's a big deal to me.
