McCain may have some good ideas but Obama is mopping the floor with McCain when it comes to connecting to the people.

McCain just can't connect...even Bush managed to connect to people...

So all sorts of rumors are circulating right now up here at Killington.

No official word has come out, so it is all speculation...

It is a fact though that Killington has been running their snowmakers for over 24 hours straight now and will continue blowing up high straight through tomorrow morning.

Also, of particular importance, is that they are running a bunch of snowguns even at the k-1 base.

Speculation is at a possible opening this weekend. There is nothing that confirms this, but it seems odd for them to be blasting away at the base right now if they weren't going for it.

I'm trying to stay level-headed and avoid being optimistic, but why the fuck would they be blowing at the k-1 base if they weren't trying to open?

Yup they're trying to open all right. Thats how killy works. Blast on Reason, get the jibs set up, and then the greens down to the base. Are they blowing on Bunny Buster or whatever that trail is called? If you're looking at k1, its the right

Believe it or not, not really. I'm in commercial real estate, specifically retail, and I'm in Canada. If I were in the US then yes, I'd be freaking out. Retail sales were actually up in Canada in September if you take out Auto Sales, and things are better still in Western Canada. Obviously things aren't as good as they were 6 months ago, but the sky isn't falling. 2009 will be a thin year, but a lot of the stuff I'm working on is 2010 stuff so I think I'm ok.

A lot of people, especially in Western Canada, are welcoming this downturn because costs have been out of control. You haven't really been able to build a movie theatre for the past 2 years or so anywhere out here because costs have been so high. Developers (provided they have a good source of financing, which many still do) are happy.

The biggest thing that a lot of us got out of the conference is that the strong (Wal-Mart, among others) will get stronger, and the weak (Linen's N Things, among others) will probably fail. An example between the US and Canada is Starbucks announced a little while ago they were closing 900+ stores in the US, but they are still very bullish on Canada and want to do deals. They don't plan to close any stores in Western Canada.

Residential is a different story though, doesn't really matter where you are. Even Manhattan is getting hit.

The Revy/Vernon/Kelowna area is sucking air. I don't understand why unless the market has already been saturated.  Thier main market is Albertan Oil money and they aren't hurting.

Your answer is there. The market is already saturated. Developers have been building condos/townhouses/golf courses, etc as if every single person from Calgary and Edmonton is going to buy a vacation home. That is obviously not the case. If the housing market for Calgary is going down, you can be damn sure the secondary housing market for Calgary (i.e. Kelowna) is going to disappear.

The jib park at Big Boulder called the plaza opens halloween night.  they have enough snow to stay open through the weekend.  not so sure about next week though.  oh.  its free, plus they are giving hot dogs free!

So there's this girl who's a waitress at a restaurant me and my roommates go to frequently...and she's absolutely gorgeous.  I've had a crush on her for like a month, so tonight I asked our waitress about her and she was basically like, "Yeah, she's single, you should talk to her."  So I did....AND I GOT HER NUMBER!

Haha this probably sounds like not at all a big deal to most of you, but I'm SOOOOOOO STOKED!
