Question for you guys

I don't know if any of you can help? I have a friend whose best buddy is Lebanese, which means she is a Muslim. She is 18, and has just gotten married to this guy who was really nice before the wedding but has now turned into a complete asshole. He is keeping this girl in the house all day, making her cook and clean and won't let her contact her family and friends. She was in her final year of school but he's made her quit.
I don't know if any of you guys have heard about people in this situation, but do you have any ideas about how my friend can help hers?

The police is what I suggested to my friend, but the girl is Lebanese and her parents are really anti police and everything. She can't divorce him coz it isn't part of their religion which really sucks. She just has to stay with him which means being unhappy. I think its very unfair! She only said yes to marrying him coz she didn't want to be sent back to Lebanon!

i'd still say she needs to get out of there, I mean I know it's against her religion and her family would shun her, but from the sounds of it I'd say its not worth it. But divorcing him may make him physicaly abusive, I seriously dont know what you should do though. Maybe one of those helpline things might give you advice.

if she wont call the police your friend should. somebody shud seriously help her. this shouldn't have even gone on this long. that is totally shit. definately go to cops and even the helplines. there are people to talk to.

I say when religion does this to you, it's time to find a new one. Laws and customs that are relevant in one culture are often not relevant, and actually quite detrimental, in another.
