Camcorder/ mini dv question

Alright so i bought a mini dv cam (JVC GR-D 347U, to be exact) it has a tiny what looks like a 4 pin firewire port under the lcd screen. i was wondering if i could get a cable to connect that to usb would it be able to transfer it to my computer?

You'll have to use your computers firewire port if it has one, if not your kinda screwed. Go buy a 4 pin firewire cable, but first check to see if your comp has a plug in. The reason they use firewire is because its way faster than USB.

If so buy a cable off line it is much much much cheeper than a store like best buy. You computer will either have a 4 or 6 pin connection so make sure you know which one.

damn, i dont have any firewire ports on my computer. should i get a firewire card (laptop) or some sort of usb interface

usb is no where near fast enough to transfer video and I dont know about a card but I would look around.
