Hows this camera??

so i signed up for photo1 this year just to have a dick off class, but i was unaware you needed to have your own camera. so my mom whips out this nikon camera that i havent ever seen before, and it looks pretty sick

im VERY new with cameras so bare with me..its a nikon N65 with a nikon 28-80mm wide angled lens. the f stop is 3.5-22, and it has a pretty nasty zoom on it.. so my question is, is this a high quality camera that is CAPABLE of taking really good pictures, or has it been sitting in a closest for 3 years for a reason

basically its just an entry level camera which should do you well. its not a pro quality camera by any means but should get you buy well enough.
