if we dont attack Iran by early october i will close this account. i have not seen so much "static" i guess it could be called ever before, alot of the sources are from inside the military. also judging by the recent resignations and the speeches bush has been making lately i almost gurantee this will happen.

Oh ya, Iran is next alright.  If you haven't been blessed enough to read the oh so invigorating "Rebuilding America's Defenses", you're missing out.  The idea was, Iraq to get rid of Saddam, then Iran.  Funniest thing is, the people who wrote it also wrote how it would be hard to rally the amiercan public behind such a thing without a 'Pear Harbor like event".

So I'd say thus far, it's 2/2 and looking to go a solid 3/3.

your a fool.  we don't have the means to open another front on our so called "war on terror" our military is already over extended as it is.  Don't even try to say we would have a draft because we would have to legitimately declare war on Iran and that will never happen considering bush can't declare war only congress can.  There is no support in the US for a another war.  If bush even mentioned any military action  against Iran it would create an uproar in Washington and around the country.  Basically bush no longer holds the power to go to war because the American people wont be mislead again.  so yah your wrong.

Guys I've got to get behind on Eleven on this one. Bush is really pushing for war with Iran... it's really scary. Iran is like Iraq on steroids because well... their army is SOLEY for the purpose of defense. We will be so fucked if we do.

i certainly do agree with skierman that we are fucked if we attack them.  If you look at what they did during the Iran-Iraq war they got teenage boys to join the military and these boys were told the fundamentalist bullshit about they would become martyrs.  they gave all the kids plastic keys to heaven and sent millions of them out to fight.  so they would have there conventional militarily which is somewhat respectable but they would also have a huge army of boys who want to die.  These boys are sent out without weapons and they are told to storm enemy offfesive posions and they are told to take the enemies  weapons as they go.  while a bunch of unarmed teenagers might not sound serious is is when you skimpily cant kill them all.  Iraq soldiers were running out of ammunition  from killing them.  Now after our offensive is over run by these kids Iran will role in with the conventional milliarty and be able to put a legitimate fight.  not to mention this time these kids may be armed with IED's.

that not just what i think im quoting one of our generals.  look at iraq our troops were supposed to be on much shorter tours of duty there but instead they have been there way longer than they were supposed to be before they got relived.  Fine maybe we are not over extended yet but any other conflict will certainly over extend us.

ok if anyone in denver knows who gunny Bob is, he said he can almost gurantee that we commit against Iran with airstrikes based on what his military friends have said. he was a gunnery sargent in the marines and he is no liberal, he is an open Bush supporter so coming from him is pretty shocking. he's a radio guy btw, check out 850koa.com for info. and im hearing shit like this everywhere.

But when Time magazine runs a cover story about how the army is streched too thin, how can you argue? Im not saying Time is always 100% spot on but the story was legit and you know your army can only occupy so many country before its streched so thin it has no influence anywhere...

Right, but look at it this way... we pull out of Afghanistan, use troops that have come back from tours in Iraq, and you got the reserves along with troops slowing being pulled out of Iraq as a part of operation leave-iraq-as-a-fucking-mess, and bam. You've got you initial surge into Iran.

I'm not for any war, but to think it's not going to happen because our army is stretched thin is really dumb. To stop a war from happening, you first got to realize that it CAN happen. Believe me when I say that Iran is not a threat, and we should leave them the fuck alone.
