This movie is so fucking good. I don't even know where to begin. I just got my copy in the mail yesterday and I've since watched it about 5 times. This movie is so awesome in so many ways that I can only mention a few of them without writing a novel. So, a few general observations:
1.) Completely original soundtrack. Has that ever been done for any ski or snowboard film, ever? Sick. When I heard it was going to be all produced for the movie I was totally skeptical thinking the quality would not be on point or whatever. Totally worked out really well. Flow was like phosphorous.
2.) Switch landings. There cool. Switch landings off huge BC booters and cliffs is a lot fucking cooler. You all know it, I don't need to remind you. But IDEA wants to remind you how cool they are. Pep does some absolutely insanely huge zero spins that had my jaw dropped to the ground. The Oregon gap segment (I think it was Oregon) is absolutely mind blowing. Switch 3 over that gap? Are you shitting me? I will never forget that shot.
3.) Washington pow segment. Beyond epic. The right place at the right time. Every skiers dream. Words are unnecessary.
4.) Progression of the 3 55-gallon oil drum jib is dope. The sequence of it being hit in the pipe is so ill.
5.) Last shot of the movie. First hit. The tits. One of the most memorable shots of any movie ever.
6.) Andy Mahre is my new hero. I've been waiting for someone to do a dope switch cork 3 forever. You win! So fresh I cannot even describe. The shot is perfect as well. I have watched this over and over more times than I can count.
7.) No matter how much your HDV camera looks like film, its NOT 16MM.
Iberg makes the best movies around. Theres never been a time yet where I've thought that maybe Royalty won't be my favorite ski movie of all time, that time may have just come. Possibly soon to be replaced with IDEA. I'll have to watch it a few dozen more times to decide something like that though. By the way if you didn't read this thread because it looked long, the bottom line is, this movie is the really really really good, go buy it right now.

word. Eric said he showed some skiing footage to the band, so they could really feel the sport and make some beats that really go with the skiing, and you can definitely tell. the work they put into this movie really payed off.

The park sections are actually up there with the best segs in the movie In my opinion, and I'm not even a park guy. The editing is awesome and the tracks are insane. The follow cams are unbelievable.

all copies of the movie come with the soundtrack. that means that there is an extra cd that comes with it that has the pure mp3s of all the music in the movie.

the only real gripe i have about idea is on my copy the music volume cuts in and out randomly, like it will be twice as loud in some spots as others, and it just switches volume quite often.

I believe the red coated ripper is Benchetler at the park session, and Pep in the cliff section.

^ haha, ya, the minor sound flaws are hardly noticeable and really doesn't take away from the flick. hip hip hooray for IDEA! this is a damn good review. I'm pretty sure at this point i've watched the movie about one hundred and thirty seven times, and i still don't even skip a segment or get sick of any of it!! timeless.....

you should probably take it as a compliment that it took that long for someone to say something. the overall goodness of the movie makes it easy to overlook something like that. the only reason i noticed is because i too am a bedroom music producer and my ears tend to notice stuff like that. and as a side note, i thought the music was very well produced. the problem lies not in the music production itself but the final audio mastering job, which i'm sure is the last thing one would worry about when making a ski flick haha. the hdtv thing makes sense though, since the only tv i've watched it on is my roommate's hd.
and Iberg, if you ever want to make a ski flick with an original, all drum&bass, continuous soundtrack, i'm your guy. i even have some professional connects in the audio/video mastering field.
still love the movie though. all my boarder friends fuckin geeked over it too

I definitely noticed that audio glitch thing the first time I watched it, as I have a full surround system and I think the kinda exacerbates the glitch. If i watch it on my comp or just straight up listen to the soundtrack on my stereo it isn't as bad. But, seriously, whatever, it isn't even an issue. It doesn't make the movie any less sick at all, is just kind of odd when you first notice it, and then you get used to it.

Every iberg movie is sick, but has one segment I could really do without.
WTF is up with that snowboarding segment? I couldn't decide if they were making fun of riding movies, or not - it was very unclear. It starts off with basically the opening shot from afterbang (clicking in), then at times they're using a little kids board or something, then riding around like homos with their hands above their head....i just don't know.
If it WAS poking fun, it didn't do a good job, but if it was supposed to be legit, then it definitely didn't accomplish that. The only good shot from it was the lipslide at the end.

Why can't any store in Whistler have the movie in. I guess I should have pre-ordered, delivery is imminent. If I have to wait any longer for my next skiing fix, I will literally go crazy.

about having a completely original soundtrack, i think newman admin did that last year, not entirely sure though.

the snowboarding was sick. they were just out having fun on a board and they arent allowed to show that? if you dont like it...dont watch it. its as simple as that. these are pro skiers we are talking about, seeing them hop onto a board and still kill it harder than a lot of people you see on the mountains is awesome. it was just a segment for fun.

you know what?
While I was watching IDEA, during the utah segment, my mom came in the room sat down and started watching it with me , she usually doesnt like ski movies that much (gets bored quick) but I think IDEA is just different, when she saw the credits rolling she was like "Is it really finished? Can you start it over again?"
I thought that was sick.

Finally saw it and I am at a loss for words. Everything about it is sooo on point. The butters off cliffs, Andy's zero spins, Pep's hand plants, Pollards tree jib, Cali P, a major chill session in AK...this movie is just smothered in dopesauce.
