This movie is so fucking good. I don't even know where to begin. I just got my copy in the mail yesterday and I've since watched it about 5 times. This movie is so awesome in so many ways that I can only mention a few of them without writing a novel. So, a few general observations:
1.) Completely original soundtrack. Has that ever been done for any ski or snowboard film, ever? Sick. When I heard it was going to be all produced for the movie I was totally skeptical thinking the quality would not be on point or whatever. Totally worked out really well. Flow was like phosphorous.
2.) Switch landings. There cool. Switch landings off huge BC booters and cliffs is a lot fucking cooler. You all know it, I don't need to remind you. But IDEA wants to remind you how cool they are. Pep does some absolutely insanely huge zero spins that had my jaw dropped to the ground. The Oregon gap segment (I think it was Oregon) is absolutely mind blowing. Switch 3 over that gap? Are you shitting me? I will never forget that shot.
3.) Washington pow segment. Beyond epic. The right place at the right time. Every skiers dream. Words are unnecessary.
4.) Progression of the 3 55-gallon oil drum jib is dope. The sequence of it being hit in the pipe is so ill.
5.) Last shot of the movie. First hit. The tits. One of the most memorable shots of any movie ever.
6.) Andy Mahre is my new hero. I've been waiting for someone to do a dope switch cork 3 forever. You win! So fresh I cannot even describe. The shot is perfect as well. I have watched this over and over more times than I can count.
7.) No matter how much your HDV camera looks like film, its NOT 16MM.
Iberg makes the best movies around. Theres never been a time yet where I've thought that maybe Royalty won't be my favorite ski movie of all time, that time may have just come. Possibly soon to be replaced with IDEA. I'll have to watch it a few dozen more times to decide something like that though. By the way if you didn't read this thread because it looked long, the bottom line is, this movie is the really really really good, go buy it right now.

everything you have said is right on. coupled with the fact that literally EVERY single shot in the movie is filmed and cut to perfection. i have posted in every IDEA thread, but basically, if you dont own this movie, you are missing out on the greatest ski movie of al time.

Not to mention pep does probably the sickest sw 9 ever in the utah cali p jump seggy. Totally original rotation. Anddd I was totally hesitating on driving to alaska this year. Totally gonna have to do it now. It looks like way too much fun.

i concure wholeheartedly. i love this movie. i love the music (especially in the snowboard seg). i love the filming (especially the scene when i think its andy skiing the trees and the camera seems like its somehow mounted around his knees and the snow kicks up on the lense- so cool looking). i love the skiing- these guys' "style" appeals to me quite a bit more than people trying crazy awkward shit every hit. i love the editing- the little flashes of color when the scene changes, good matchup with the music. this movie is rad. makes me so ridiculously stoked to ski. it just makes it look so FUN.

the snowboarding segment should have been an extra, but the rest of the movie is dope.
each final shot of each segment is worthy of "shot of the year" honors. can't decide yet if andy's air to fakie barrel tap in the pipe was cooler than his underflip blunt into pow. pollard's line to cliff drop to fakie and pep's sunset banger final shot are straight up nasty too.
whether it's skiing or boarding, air to fakie has always been my favorite shit (you might refer to them as 180's) and this movie provided the best array of them i have yet to see in a ski flick.

Ya I agree, the quality just wasn't there. I thought it was almost a joke til I flipped through the directors cut real quick and realized that was skiers boarding. I'm all for integrating ski and snowboard flicks, as long as the boarders are killing it just as hard.

I thought that scene was classic, awesome song and actually really good boarding. The whole movie had this fun vibe to it and I think that scene was awesome.

Do it. I got mine from Jibij in like 3 days and I'm on the east coast, they packaged and shipped it the day I ordered it. Plus they give ya a dope Jibij sticker that now resides on my truck.
I loved the whole movie/have contributed to most of the Idea threads on NS so far. Watched it about a dozen times already as so many others have said. It is by far my favorite ski movie to date.
The snowboarding at first kinda put me off. Don't get me wrong it looked good and they were pretty good. I just thought if i wanted to watch pro level snowboarding it would blow these guys out of the water, and I could go buy a snowboard movie..... Then i remembered the concept of the movie and thought, maybe these guys just also have a great time out there on snowboard. Maybe they just wanted to show another great way they enjoy snow and mountains, plus while they may not be pro snowboarder level I thought it displayed their range of natural talent and style on a different instrument of riding. I admit I tried snowboarding last season.(it was pretty fun)

yeah some people here apparently have forgotten that snowboarding is fun, and if skiing is so fun right now it's a bit because of snowboarding..
hope my copy is coming tomorrow, here in france no one has it now :(

How much of the time are they skiing without poles....is it 50 50 or what?

The only thing I think would of made it better was more lyrics in the music. But sick movie none the less. Cali P songs were sick. Washington Seg alone was worth the cost of the movie.

I would have to disagree. I think the parts without lyrics reall shined. The opening pow section and he Baker segment were my favorites, no lyrics whatsoever.

Yup for sure. I actually kinda dislike one of the Cali P songs and think it ruins the seg, the rest of the soundtrack is so banger though.
