D-spin to back lip or flat spin= Risky flip(02) or DJ flip(07)
Double back 180= Venious fly trap, toubinroll (01) or Whiskey flip(07)
Double flat spin= Kange, kangaro(07)

OK Whiskey flip sounds cool but what im saying and prove me wronge if you want. We should call the tricks as we see it not something new. Like Left side Right side calling it unnatural is wrong. Unatural is a felling not a trick. Every time we name a trick or combo of tricks something new it gets harder and harder to follow like arials. Especially if its got a name already

can't a double rodeo be called....a double rodeo? why does it need to be named after some stupid marsupial that will never do one? i don't get the craze with naming these double flips with lame ass names...

i say just say it so you can claim it later..... if walk up to someone sayin "Yo! I just landed the sickest double-cork plat whiskey flip magee!" your probly going to end up in a mental facility... (of course that trick combo is made up but you get my point)

Yeah venus fly trap!! That was rad in Parental Advisory, we should definitely give Sutherland credit on that . He was doing double backing 180's so long ago. I'd say that his were actually sicker though, because (no offence to Pete O, he's a rad skier) the whiskey flip was just like double back 90 sorta, he didn't really incorporate the full twisting 180 like Tobin did. I'd like to see someone put down a real nice venus flytrap, Tobin style and have it called as that.

And Yeah, the terms "unnatural" and "natural" should be phased out for several reasons. First of all, it's straight up confusing because it could be different directions for everyone. Second of all, calling something "unnatural" literally implies that you wouldn't be as good at it, which shouldn't be the case if you're an ill skier, because if you're good enough then unnat won't really be unnat. Third of all, it won't matter to call nat unnat because people will be spinning both ways. So what's the point of calling it unnat 9 to sw nat 9? Fourth, nat and unnat is totally non descript, because it doesn't even tell you what trick someone is doing. It really doesn't matter so much what direction that is for someone, it matters way more what it is. Seeing a sw right rodeo 7 is way different than seing it left. Fifth and finally, if you know your shit, you should know which way everyone, from your buddies to the pros, spin.

Its like doing something switch on a skateboard. Skateboarding its just easier to tell if someone is goofy or regular. I dont think it should be phased out i think it just says how someone skis. imagine if skating had no switch, even for the top pros you do something switch or even nollie its that much sicker. Well shit maybe switch should really be fakie, switch should be unnatural, and switch unnatural should be nollie. Well in skating terms at leasst.

My action items on trick names:

Trash Underflips and Overflips. The spin plus invert rotation breaks down here, because and underflip's count 'both' as part of the overall degree, while rodeo's and misties count the lateral spin only (eg, a underflip 5 is a back and a 180, a rodeo 7 is a 720 and a back... shit doesnt add up!).

Keep Kangaroo's and DJ Flips - they are much easier to say than switch d-spin 7 to backflip or whatever. We'll just add them to the dictionary and they'll be colloquial eventually. However, no fucking "Kangaroo 360's" or some shit, adding rotation variations on specialized tricks is only going to be a fucking mess. If you pull another 180 out of it, its a different trick. I think it would be kinda cool to have it like that, every double flip gets a original name. We can still keep 'switch' for these however, just to cut down the total number of names and keep it reasonable.

And yes, the first person to land the trick gets to name it and own the name. Its still a venus flytrap and risky flip.

no on a rodeo the invert counts as 3 and you do a 3 with it so you only spin 7.

What you said on unnatural is absolutely wrong.

Left/Right makes no sense because it depends on the people that do the trick. Unnatural is the harder side.

Sorry, I switched that around. Rodeo's you dont count the inversion, underflips you do as part of the rotation. I didnt have my coffee this morning.

what about guys like Dana Flair who spins right side upright and inverts to the left. Calling it unnatural sounds wack ,it a feeling not a trick. if someone sees a trick there like oh that must have felt unnatural. or better yet lets call it happy or sad.

ya i like that sad 5 its nice.

oh ya how can it not make sense left is left and right is right everone knows this. if you do them one after another ya its harder. but ts still just a difference of direction

thay dont call it writing with your unnatural hand. or looking over your unnatural shoulder.

i agree 100%. i've been saying this for a while. I'd say keep wilson flips and kangaroos because they're so common now, but i think it's a LOT less confusing to call the trick by its rotation/axis/etc. i'm confused enough by what a dinner roll is.

that one can stay. i think he should get to leave a mark on the industry. but to a point your right. now if every one startes doing this its going to get weerd. we have yet to name all are grabs let alone rename tricks.

yes, calling tricks with these fruity names makes it more like roller blading culture. i grew up skateboarding and we always used to make fun of roller tricks names. top side misu. fish brains etc. don't get me wrong, roller blading is the shit those guys kill it but they have funny naming methods that skiing should not adopt if it wants to be more mainstream.

Yea I completely agree. Although my name is "skodeo" don't get the wrong idea (I made this name like 8 years ago).

I think naming things like kangaroo flip, whiskey flip, risky flip, etc... is fucking stupid as all hell. Not every trick needs a new freakin name. It just seems sort of arrogant to dub a trick with a new name in my opinion. I mean Terje invented the Haakon flip because its a completely original rotation. Skiers are just naming things unnecessarily. Maybe they are just lazy and don't feel like saying "double flatspin 9" and would rather say "kangaroo" haha. I don't know, I completely agree and think its stupid.

it comes from skateboarding, which i have no problem with but alot of people dont like taking stuff from board sports.

but they dont say kickflip shoveit. they say varial flip. and they dont say 360 shoveit kickflip. its a 3flip or tre flip.

just shortens, personally i would rather say kang flip than double flatspin 180
