So I just got my FKS 155s yesterday, and on the gold part of each heel (just beside the DIN window), there is a hole that looks like it's been drilled into the piece (not a perfectly round/smooth hole). I've never seen this on any 185s or P18s I've mounted before. Any reason for the holes on mine?
Dont worry about it, its on all (newer) fks bindings, its probably just the first time you have noticed it. What it is, is a pin to hold on the housing of the binding to the frame, on older model fks's (without pin) there were fluke reports of the housing falling of, hence the pin.
I did not notice this until I looked at my FKS 155's either. I am not sure exactly what it is , but I agree with vtrider in that it is a pin or rivet to hold the plastic cover on.
Awesome, thanks a lot guys. It's exactly like in that picture of the 120s.
Whoever asked about forward pressure, it's not hard at all. Just make sure both wings are set exactly the same before you put your boot in (use the lines on the metal rods to eye it). Then when you're adjusting, turn the screws evenly on each side, like a half turn each, til it's right. You want the plastic tab to be flush with the back of the lines - you'll get what I mean when you do it.
Why some short and some long? Either the're setting the forward pressure wrong or they've set the jig to the wrong length and had to compensate a lot to get the right forward pressure. I've mounted quite a few pairs and most of the time I have to shorten them just a little bit from the way they come (set at the notch on the bar) to get it right.
You mean the heel is too wide to fit in?? I've never seen that. You're adjusting the bars for the forward pressure, not to get the width right. But if adjusting them one way or the other is the only way your boot is going to squeeze in then you have no choice.
