Each year students, faculty, alumni and friends of WCKA paddle the entire
Gauley twice in a single day, 52 miles, to raise money for our annual
service project and our scholarship fund. We raise the money by asking our
friends, family, community, local businesses, etc. for pledges for the miles
we paddle.
Community service is an important component of our mission at World Class.
The Service Project money will be used for the Soft Power Education Center,
an organization dedicated to refurbishing school houses in Uganda. During
our visit in November, we will be volunteering time to help with the
hands-on projects. Check out Soft Power's web
site:

WCKA offers a great program for students who enjoy kayaking and will benefit
from a World Class experiential education. We are always working hard to
raise scholarship money to enable more kids to enjoy the WCKA experience.
Both the Service Project and the Scholarship Fund are worthy recipients of
your pledges and our time and effort.
The fundraiser is only a month away and our goal is to raise at least
$6,000.
