if you buy before around sept 16th at big white or silverstar, you get the earlybird discount so the pass is like 429$. you can buy online too.

Just basically not Whis, because they're around double everywhere.
Do you want park?
Because there are some pretty good places that don't have good parks, but good snow.

at 83$ a day whistler is definatly not cheap.

If you going to be on Vancouver Island then check out Mt.Washington, a day pass there is around $45-$50. For powder theres mt.cain, I'm not sure the cost of a pass there but it's really cheep, tiny 2 lift mountain w/ amazing snow and terrain.

If he goes to Whistler for one day it's probably not really worth it. Too much to ski not enough time.
It's better to go for like 3 days, at least.
