yeh i was fucking not happy with my purchase of that cd. 1 semi-decent song. others were ok i guess. but for nas? fuck that shit. i would listen to illmatic any day over dat shit.
nas will rape any underground rapper you can think with no beat, blindfolded, hanging upside down.
now for everyone else who is hating, nas is top five all time and is still putting out solid albums. if anyone was expecting hip hop is dead to be a better album than illmatic or even it was written is fucking crazy. illmatic is the greatest hip hop album of all time in my eyes and through many many other hip hop kids. what nas did with this album is try to spit some lyrical shit about how there STILL IS GOOD HIP HOP, you just gotta look for it.
i just saw a thank you for people who have been using this forum, but if its thanking these pointless posts with three words, im sticking to my cults/other forums
I don't think hip-hop is dead, I'd just say mainstream hip-hop is more pop than anything else. Also, the fact that people like Rihanna and such are labeled as hip-hop artists sorts of "kill" it. There are TONS of good hip-hop out there, it's just that the true hip-hop doesn't get the exposure it deserves, it mainly stays underground.
And for Nas, he is one of the greatest of all times even if his last album was not that great. At least the Hip Hop is Dead album made hiphop "noobs" discover the previous albums of Nas.(I don't want to be some kind of music snob here, I just couldn't find another word than noob- people can listen any music they want whether it's some commercial dirty south to underground east coast)
