Anyone else think Idea was kind of mediocre?

I mean it had some cool shit, but still, overhyped. I was expecting Brigham Young to come back to life or something with all this hype. But it just seemed like Community Project rehashed. If you see one powder butter you have seen them all. Re-release Stereotype, label it Idea, cut out Steele Spence, done. Best movie.

Yea ok, I'm sure you could shoot a film that is focued around powder skiing with absolutely no budget to travel to places where it is storming... Plus afford all the camera gear, gas for snowmobiles, editing, etc... In other words you are wrong, a budget definitely helps.

I only have 2 complaints and they are pretty minor. First, I just wish it was shot in widescreen. Thats very minor, but I just like stuff in widescreen. And second, I know these guys arent big on rails but I just wish they did some in the movie. Like Pollards self edit last year had 2 rails in it, and they were some of the best rails I have ever seen. It was just sooo stylie. But other than that, it was like nothing before, they did a great job.

Agreed
Got it yesterday and watched it three times. As someone who likes the outdoors a lot I could watch that movie even if it had no skiers in it at all. The shots were beautiful, and the skiing was so stylish it makes you remember technical tricks are only half the game. Also as a TOYOTA owner and lover the truck shots on the road really did it for me too, but I'm just crazy for my yota ski truck like that.
All in all I would say it was the best ski movie I have ever seen. Although it reminds me how much the east coast sucks for snow.

Pollards Tundra is so sick. And, the soundtrack is the sickest shit ever. It has become like the official blazing soundtrack for me the past week cause it is so chill and pretty funk. It rocks. The only song that i think is kinda shitty is the first Cali P song in the Provo segment

i kind of agree with the fact that the ski movies arent that far behind but still snowboard movies put out a good vibe that appeals to the greater majority of the general public leading to those greater budgets that the snowboarding companies are given. So if we could make ski movies appeal to a larger group of people the budgets would grow and the quality would increase. Also i think snowboarding has kind of peaked and is heading towards a steady down-slope.

As a dedicated road tripper from the mid atlantic my truck is a huge part of my ski season adventures. Also owning toyota trucks breeds a deep seeded love for them in general, I'm a freak I guess cause the "T" symbol on the steering wheel jumped out at me even in the first few minutes of the movie.
Plus these trucks are gnar in the winter, which is why I'm sure a bunch of skiers own em.
So what if I admire wallpaper during pornography???

I think level 1's cinematography is really creative. Idea tried to be creative with their filming but i dont know why everyone thinks Iberg is so creative for making this movie. The filming really didnt seem creative. yes, the soundtrack was, and the skiing kinda was. But I really think level 1 is better at filming.

It's funny. I laughed and jumped for joy over the truck make, and then i laughed at myself for how much of a dork I can be over a truck.

What do you think about the filming of berman's movies, and the filming of Iberg's. Just filming. Not skiiers, not soundtracks, not style of skiing, but the filming. If you really watch close...I think you'll see the berman's filming is more creative. This does not mean I like L1P movies better. As a matter of fact I liked Idea more then LSS because I like seeing booters and hucks more then the rails.

you know i think idea is sweet. i showed it to my crew of friends who ranges from gangster snowboarders to a kid who skins most the time and they all thought it was sick.
i think that says a lot about the movie.
that everyone digs it, not just one group.
and eric pollard is cooler than brigahm young.
