ok so im 16, 17 in about a week
ever since i got my license ive been driving one of my fathers cars, and audi a6.....needless to say i was hella thankful for it and pumped to drive such a nice car.....
i was only driving it till i got my vehicle, which my dad says was gonna be a truck, preferably a f-150
he came home at least twice a week with pages printed of websites of trucks he said he wanted to get for me, most of them were like 2004 f-150's and 05 tundras.....
today he came home with my vehicle, a 97 camry.......
i want to be like thanks dad for buying me a car, since i know im really lucky to have parents who will buy me a car....but hes been telling me hes gonna get a really nice truck for like 4 months......so im like agry/depressed/pissed off.....
do i have any justification for my anger?>

Nah man you have a right to be disappointed. You were expecting a truck....and for a long time too. A Camry isn't a truck. You should be thankful you have a car but I can definitely see why you are disappointed.

that totally sucks balls.
but no, you dont have a right to be "angry"..
disappointed? maybe. There's no real way to bring this up to your parents though. You're probably going to either upset your dad or make him sad if you tell him you dont like it.
I don't know...maybe just say "hey, im really stoked you guys bought me a car! Thank you so much..i kind of had my heart set on a truck though, what made you change your mind?"
cause theres probably a reason. price or gas mileage or something.
Then if you can work it in, be like, "i wish we'd have had a chance to go out and test drive some trucks together..but its ok, thanks for the car!"
if theres an option the car can be returned or traded in, that will be your dads cue to say "well, we could still go look at some"..if he doesnt say anything, you're stuck.
But if a truck isn't THAT big of a deal to you, i suggest letting it go, that's still a hella nice car and you're lucky.
Why did i spend so much time responding to this?

or you could always say "i love camrys more than anything in the world. i secretly have ALWAYS wanted one!!!! but unfortunately we're going to have to exchange it for one of those giant ugly trucks.. cause i gotta have something that will get me to the mountain. plus id like to haul around gravel and dirt to do yardwork around the house."

id be disapointed but there really is no way to tell him...
ask him if you can put a nasty sound system in it and then if he says no you can be like dad..i really like this car but its not the truck we talked about for months. sonmthin along those lines

yeah i'd feel the same as everyone else. but i'd be happy with any car that was bought for me, except a newer taurus. i hate those cars, but an older one would be cool/. bahaha

Obviously you could be disappointed if you were expecting a truck, but there's no waaay you should be angry, you should be happy to be getting anything at all for free.

who cares if u don't have a truck. that car will get u where u need to go. and probably won't be around after college. so thank ur dad for not making u pay for a care that took you months to save up for.

Be grateful, I drive a 15 year old Camry. Yours is only a decade old, it probably still runs perfectly.

well you got your own car which is sick so be happy about that, and also now that you don't have a truck you won't be spending as much on gas and you're not gonna polluting the air as much and stuff which is another plus
just look at all the positives that come with this and you'll get out of your bummed out state of mind

hah yeah that fucking sucks. tell you dad how you feel and then your plan, which is to...
clean it up and sell it again! use money to get what you want. most parents let you pick...within reason...what you want, unless your getting your parents/siblings old car
