has anyone ever used a camera that just records onto memeory of the camera, im not sure exactly what the term for that is called..., but im wondering how it compares to mini dv or something like that...

usually similar quality but you cant record for that long...

i have an HVX, which records onto P2 cards, and it destroys any mini-dv footage.

I apologize, that was an utterly useless post. Almost all NTSC hard drive cameras encode video in MPEG-2 format, and MPEG-2 severely limits your editing options. Mini-DV is also preferable in that there is no video compression. And you can save all your raw Mini-DV footage as archives. And with Mini-DV you have control over the DVD compression.
IMO, Mini-DV is preferable to hard drive and DVD recording, unless you're shooting in HD.
