whats the best ski shop in the area with the freshes gear and the best newschool name brands???

And I'm going to say support Porters, Daves, Totally Board, and Sports Exchange.  Just sticking to my North Shore homies for now cuz they all had a rough winter last year.

wooooowwww... whoever you are, you have way too much time on your hands! and take ski talk waay too seriously. i just saw all those posts you wrote in this thread since the last time i've been on newschoolers, and wow...
i don't work for moment or that shop, i just think they're both sick. and those people you named are three different, and we ski together. and i don't have a thousand friends or posts on newschoolers like you because i'm not that active on it. because since the last time i read this thread, while you've been married to it and talking shit, i've been skiing all over the country instead of talkin about it.
oh man... people are so aggressive on this site! chill out... skiings cool... and fun...

No prob cuz we're all entitled to our own opinion.  I'm obviously biased and have an opinion cuz I'm a north shore gir.  lShoreline and Bob who owns it are cool but it's not a full blown ski shop.  That was the thread topic that's all.  No real probs with you just Mukluk.

I've only recently posted on this thing too.  For cryin out loud I'm "lame".  And sorry Mukluk I wasn't talking shit at all.  I was setting the record straight from you talking shit.  I've been around the block more than you trust me and years and years ago had the MSRP / MAP thing explained to me by a sales rep friend of mine back then so that's why I was calling bullshit on bullshit.  Again, we ain't got snow on the ground so go in and play lets make a deal with whatever shop you wanna support, but the original "street" or MAP price on a K2 Hell Bent starts the same for everybody.

Don't think I did much ranting on you.  Poor Mukluk got the brunt of that. 

And you seriously don't know what I got offended about after reading my "rants"??  It's that you like a lot of people just assume that because you go to the mountains that they INTENTIONALLY RAISE the initial, sticker price of skis versus some shop in the bay area or whatever.  And the flip side is those that think a bay area shop somehow chooses to put a sticker price on a ski $50 or $100 less than a shop in the mountains. 

I was just trying to deal in FACTS and educate the sheep a bit that think that shops really have much of a say in what price they put on a ski.  THEY DONT.  So when you say prices are higher at Bobos or Porters, your wrong.  Of course I specified all the MSRP / MAP / Feb 1 deal in a previous rant so am not going to go over it again.  And this shit goes across the board.  Want that gucci Oakley Crowbar goggle with a sick lens color?  If Oakly says the price is $130, then Bobos sells it till about Feb 1 at $130 just like a shop in the bay area (again "bro deals" aside and a shitty winter with no snow at all aside as those are two examples when all bets are off on a manufacturer not enforcing their MAP pricing policy). 

And hey GotSteaz, I started skiing at Squaw in the 70s before you were probably born and worked at shops and resorts in the 80s and 90s.  Still have LOTS of friends in the industry even though I haven't been for several years now.

and yeah I agree I'm over this too.  One of my younger girl friends has been trying to get me to use the internet more for like finding a date and surfing around and all that and told me to get on all the chat sites and this thing since I grew up skiing but I just get way too agro and should probably shut my own pie hole more often.  probably why I scare off to many guys too. but thanks for the heads up to shut up.  i'll go back to menstrating for now

and you're wrong about alot of that pricing lecture. i went to college, lol. we're not all dumb kids here
the price given by manufacturers is a "suggested retail price". different shops can choose to or are forced to sell at different prices because of outside variations that affect their business... like their location, town regulations, demand, standard of living in that area. some shops are forced to sell at less mark up and make a smaller profit margin
so yes, when oakley tell the shops suggested retail on that crowbar goggle is $120, a shop in aspen can sell it for $140 and a shop in southern ny can only sell it for $115 or nobody will buy it. both shops may still buy it from oakley for $90, and unfortunately the ny shop owner only makes $25 off it.
but then again his mortgage on his NY suburb house is only %60 of the other owner's same size aspen home. (oh, and sports authority probably gets that goggle for $80)
so yea, the sports exchange may be forced to sell their products with less mark-up at a cheaper price, because times are tough for historic truckee small business owners

if you'll go to sac, then check sierra snowboard and ski- they have amazing deals on tons of stuff.
