Diamond edges

Imagine how cool it wold be if ski companies started making ski edges with a titanium/diamond composite.

it would cost a fuck load of $$$ but your edges would never dull and everytime you did a railslide you would be wearing away the rail not your skis. And rocks .... what rocks ! the diamond would slice through them like butter, scratched bases yes but blown edges no!

i think we have some chemical/physics professors on this site......

But yeah if they can do the diamond saw blade why not in ski edges. i bet candide has those edges in this promodel. Maybe thats why they're woth so fucking much (the orange 1080s which are made of wood and have a different base)

yo there is a big debate about how some company is making synthetic diamonds cheap.....so you never know in the future it could be a possibility w/out costing you a fourtune.....

diamond blades are produced to cut through soft slate and bricks and block, not metal and shit like that. they aren't even sharp they are extremely dull, like 2-3mm at the edges, the cutting power comes from the person using the saw, its all friction. if you hit one with a hammer it shatters. so edges made from the same material would never dull yes, but they would crack very easily and would not be a good choice. it would work if you added a smaller percentage of diamonds though. believe it or not steel has very good memory, especially when used for an edge cuz its so long and thin. when you slam onto a rail your edges probably mushroom out a bit, but then come back to normal when you take that pressure off, thats why plain steel edges work. now if you had edges with diamonds mixed in, the mushrooming and returning would not happen. they might just rip out taking your sidewall with it or crack and flake and all kinds of bad shit after a dozen railslides. if it was plausable some company would have done it already because it can be done cheap, but it just wont work so companies dont bother.
