i need to know if a 1000 wat 2 channel amp will be enought power for a 3000 wat 10 inch alpine type x sub. or am i gonna need a 1600 wat amp!

3000 watt 10 inch sub?? thats kind of ridiculous. But obviously the more watts you can push out the louder...

if your amp can output 1000 watts rms, you will be fine, your sub can take max 1000 rms and bursts of 3000. I would however get the larger, just watch you volume levels. overpowering a speaker is always safer than under powering. With more power you can cleanly supply the speaker, if you under power and your speaker is drawing more than your amp can supply it creates a square wave and a square wave will wreck a sub faster than lindsay lohan can wreck a mercedes
