Ability to delete comments in your own pics

i would like to be able to delete comments in my own pics and im sure some others would as well. it would also be cool if we can reject ratings. case in point someone rating all my pics a 1.

so what if you only have one rating of 1 but 15 good comments?
or simply just one rating of 1 and no comments. situations like that.

oh i see, gettin the median. 10 is great for getting a median but what if only 7 people rate it, all 10s.

like, youre saying it would be 'rating unavailable' until ten people rate it. meaning if 7 people rated it, it would still say 'unavailable'
than when it gets 10 rating you would take the median number and that would be the rating.

i agree rating pics isnt that important unless we're talking top rated. it just bugs me when some kids decide to rate everything a one multiple times.
5 is too low to get a median really so i guess just drop the whole rating thing.
i would really like the comment deletion though.

It gives the individual member too much power, thats the kind of thing thats abused. If you have a specific problem I'm sure a mod could take care of it for you. Besides, unless you have a totally epic shot that deserves top rated, the ratings are overrated anyways.

this could get into the karma system too i suppose...
say you delete someones comment that was negative. that person is then going to rate you low. which is the same argument for being legit with the ratings. i dont know anymore haha.

this idea is stupid who cares what people say. if some people always leave stupid degrading comments no one will care what they say. As for the raiting I think we should trust the members of the site. If it becomes that a large majority of people decide to rate things poorly as a joke ratings won't matter anyway.

It's not, I just think the ability of a person commenting to be able to say anything (anything allowed on the site that is) about a picture is something we need to keep. If somebody hates the picture for a given reason they should have as much a right to say so as long as they do it with some respect. If a picture is getting nothing but negative comments the person could just take it down.
I may have a better idea.
Instead of deleting comments on an individual basis, the person who puts the picture up could choose to allow or not allow comments or ratings. That way either you value everything that members have to say, or you value none of it. Thats as opposed to only accepting and showing certain opinions, which for some reason bugs me.
