Rockering a Skimboar

I have a decent wood skimboard with about a quarter of an inch of rocker.  Is there a way that I can warp the wood and make it more rockered?  Would putting it in a hottub for a while make the wood easily bendable?

not wood... fiberglass maybe.

the only thing you going to do to wood if you bend it is create hundreds of stress cracks... which will ruin your board

actually it's probably possible, let it soak in some hot water for a while and then do the stair method.

if you knew anything about skimboarding you'd know that rockering it makes it easier and more fun. It is also easier to use on steep beaches.

I think sticking it in ta hot tub would just warp it into something you dont want. Is there a fiberglass coating on it?

i made a wood skimboard once and when i put it a rocker on it i put it in water for a day. After that i stacked wood until it was as high as i wanted it under the nose. Then put weight on the board near the front and then i waited. It worked but that was with fresh wood that wasn't finished or anything

he will be able to shape it as he desires if he lets it soak in the hot tub, especially if it's only wood without fiber glass try getting one of the $10 ones and experiment with it, rather fuck up a 10 dollar one than a 200 dollar one

hahaha how is that retarded.  you want rocker on a skimboard dipshit.  how do you propose a non rockered board rides through the water dude?

My friends dad is a carpenter and he just soaks the wood and then puts the wood in special bending forms that keep the wood with a solid shape.    I think soaking it is your best bet and tell me how it turns out i wanna try it to an old skimboard I have.

your board will have already been varnished and covered in a wood treatment so water will not get into the wood and rot the board or warp it. i dont think it will work but give it a try. i reccomend just makeing a cutout of your board in wood and then rockering it and then outting some varnish and water sealant on it.

during the summer i make longboards and the best way to get the board to stay bent is to steam it for an hour or so. but because the wood has been sealed soaking or steaming the wood would have little effect. nomatter what you do the board will, sooner or later, bend back to the original shape.

your a few months late but would sanding off the coating then steaming/soaking work? and then re-seal it.

i left my board just lying in my room (with nothing near it) and now its all messed up.  It like has camber like on a ski-not good for a skimboard.  No clue how this happened, but im trying to camber it and give it back some of its life.  its been cambering for a good 2 weeks and still nothing...

rockering a wooden skimboard is easy. I soaked the wood in water for not very long, then put the tip on a brick, put a garbage can filled with water on it, left it there for about a week, and then put fiberglass resin (no cloth) all over the whole. I did the whole thing pretty half-assed, and it's held up for 3 years with no problems.
