There is an ad in the current Skiing Mag for Boost, a new freeskiing mag. Has anything else ever been more doomed for failure than this? Skiing mag's writing, editing and photos are currently horrible, this can only get worse. They have the same status as inflight magazines in my mind. I am pretty sure they are just a scam for comped lift tickets and hotels. I bet this magazine makes it maybe a year, probably less. Axis was good and that lasted maybe 2 years? With Skiing's current editors this will be more formulaic than a high school newspaper.
No, I am tired of the any press is good press, at least we have it bullshit. Adding a probable negative doesn't benefit us. It will not be good judging by Skiing itself. I don't see how their editors can actually have any pride in their work, or their lives themselves. We just need to put them on trains.
I don't know. If they have the funding for the mag (from Skiing) then they may last longer, maybe not 'cause they're good, but 'cause its got money, and I bet those 8 year old wannabe newschool skiers will buy it too.
Dude skiing is way better than Ski magazine. at least it's not that. and secondly is it going to be a magazine that is continuous? I thought it was just an issue or two suppliment kinda thing for skiing.
So I finally read boost and it turns out that I was right, utter garbage. Am I a prophet? No, it is easy to see shit from far away when it slowly leaks out of Skiing's ass.
you went there too? wow, attention whore much? I know a great place where you can get your opinions on skiing published... oh wait... I guess that's as bad a fascist regieme... and you snowblade.
I would hardly call those opinions, they are just directed and coerced opinions based on who is taking out 4 full page ads each month and who comped tickets and ahotel this month. Â
well first of all, if you're looking for quality stories, look no further than ns. they've been churning out great stories every week and with the season just starting, i only see things getting better.
from the sounds of it, you're more excited about a magazine being on your doorstep monthly- and a good one at that. the best way to get rid of these magazines you don't like? well... don't buy them. if you don't want to support them, then save your money and don't. maybe you can't find perfection in every issue of every magazines on the stand- but that's expected to happen. where's the fun in only having lions on the sahara? they can't all be AWESOME. i have the latest Skiing magazine next to me right now. though i don't subscribe to it, there are a few articles that i enjoyed reading. i specifically don't subscribe to some magazines because i know they won't live up to the expectations i have for them month after month. if you're really so hot and bothered about boost- then don't buy it. i think you should quit worrying about the magazines you don't like, and fully support the ones you do, solidifying their reign in the ski-magazine world.
who knows, with such a passion to hear yourself speak, as it seems you have, maybe you should just up and try writing for yourself. you'll soon learn that you can't make everyone happy, that not everyone's going to like your article or what you have to say... much like is occuring in this thread of yours...
and the other great thing about ns? it's a website that doesn't have to worry as much about cutting out words. [PLUG]if there's anyone out there who could take the joke and liked it, look for more stuff from me on the site this winter along with the JIBIJ posts. Thanks![/PLUG]
