Replying to Going out of state for college, is it worth it?
So i'm just coming in to my senior year of highschool and that means time to decide on a college. I currently live in nowheresville indiana and i'm dying to get out. Since i love skiing I figure why not go to U of U, or UC boulder, or UVM, or something. My parents though are less than thrilled about this idea. They give me reasons such as cost of out of state, moving expenses, flights there and back for holidays, etc. But i tell them that going to one of these schools, especially U of U, will give me so many amazing opportunities to network and really throw myself into the ski industry, which is where i hope to end up making my career in.
Can people who have had experiences in this matter give me some insight. Are flights and moving expenses really that much? Would the opportunity to network really not be worth the extra out of state tuition? Is simply the opportunity to go to a school where the mountains are near, and people who have the same passions as me, worth living a thousand or so miles away.
I've never been a homebody, i'm a very independent person. I see going to a "ski school" would just change my life in so many amazing ways. I just need to figure out how to convince my parents.
Also, i realized i mentioned the cliche ski schools, but if anyone has some suggestions for schools to look into i'd appreciate it. Any experiences shared would be great, including some on scholorships if any that you got, or just your thoughts on my situations.
Thanks
p.s. i realize my puntuation sucks and i didn't capitalize correctly, and i assume i misspelled a few words. please don't flame me for that, i'm a straight A student believe it or not. but i also wanted to get out my words quickly and as succinct as possible
