Replying to Question for people who live in Portland

If I were looking to buy a house in SE Portland are there up and coming areas still in the SE that are semi affordable to buy in? The people that we met said we should look in North Portland but they weren't skiers and didn't go to Hood that much. Is there a big time difference between living in SE or North and getting to Hood?

Also does anyone have any websites aside from Craigslist that would be good for looking for post production/editing jobs?
