I have noticed that many of the extremely talented skiers are also very short. Is there a connection? Not saying that their are not tall skiers that can rip because my man john spriggs can fuckkin ball.

hahah im just playin man. but to be honest i think normal sized skiers look better, when i see super short dudes like simon skiing i just think of little boys. there are tons of exceptions though. dylan natale is the steeziest dude around and hes like 5'4, kids got sick style.

maybe because 6 foot is above the average height for a man. last i checked it was like 5'9"-5'10".....its not that hard to figure out there is no true connection....

big people have longer arms and legs to control, which can be awkward without practice, but there's pros and cons to each. I think bigger features are less intimidating/easier (popping up onto urbans etc.) when you're bigger. as far as falling it's a toss up. smaller people are closer to the ground, but bigger people in general can absorb and distribute bigger impacts. tall steeze seems less common, but when a big person slays it looks soooo good imho. oh yeah and big dudes dont get nutted as often.

i think for amplitude it is more propotions, i am 5' 5" and ski a 185 karma for pipe, and its super stable so i think it helps me go pretty big, if i was like 6' 3" id want like a 200 hahaha

there are soo many good skiers out there that an argument using four or five skiers in comparrison doesn't work - size doesn't really matter in skiing, its all about skill and the mentality - it just happens that it seems more skiers are "short" even though they are all average height for the amount of skiers out there - with around 40+ top of the line skiers to look at it is possible to find your vincent dorion's and your john spriggs just like if you took 40 other random people - there could be some truth to the fact that many good skiers are short but it is not a big factor like how height helps in basketball and football

uh, because liam downey, josh bibby, max h and like a trillion others are such terrible skiers because theyre over 6 feet?

alright so im as tall as the average man. and 7 inches taller than the average woman.
id say it would be easier to be a shorter skier in terms of being able to move quicker and not have to control longer limbs, but they definitely have to work a little harder for the speed and power. there are pros and cons to each side

i rather be shorter than a taller skier, even though you have more trouble with speed but you can make things a lot steezier a lot easier then a tail skier would. Tall skiers on rails just dont look good to me unless they have huge amounts of style.

*claim alert*
I can shred the gnar like anyone (almost anyone) and i'm only 5'2" and done growing. Keeping speed with bigger people can be a pain in the ass though. Smaller people have to work harder to keep speed and momentum while bigger people have to work harder to, well, do everything else.

exactly. unlike sports like basketball and pole vault, it's not mandatory to be tall or short to ski. therfore, the heights of professional skiers vary greatly.
