They arent fighting for our freedom as of now but if they werent there at all we probably wouldnt have many freedoms. A country without a military is defensless and could easily be taken over unless they are a small country like andorra where if they get into trouble france or spain will protect them. America has to have a military. the only way that we would not need one is if everyone on earth was nice and wanted peace but that isnt the case and probably never will be.

The people in the military are forced into wars whether they agree with it or not. They put their beliefs aside in order to do what they are told to do. When they are told to go into war, all they have to believe in is that this war is for the better of their country. They put their fucking lives on the line without a second thought. Conceptkid, yes those are funny hand signals but calling the men and women stupid who DIE for the belief that they are protecting your freedoms is the shittiest fucking thing you could say. You are scum. Fucking scum and the most ignorant kid I've had the regret of reading posts from. They go out there so you will never have to. Here's something to think about:

is what soldiers do cooperation, or just submission?
You guys call them heros, and don't get me wrong, it's a damn big commitment saying you'll die for your country, but is it truly HEROISM?

For instance, there was some lady in the military awhile ago who was kidnapped, and after she was finally released, the government portrayed her as a hero. Now what she went through is tough, and cruel, but she didn't do anything particularly heroic.
For comparison, some time ago, there was this guy who fell into the metro tracks and was having a seizure in NYC, and another man jumped down and laid down on top of him in 1 of the drainage ditches, and saved the guys life. Now THAT is heroism.

You call killing in the name of freedom or democracy heroism? I disagree. I call finding a way to settle matters without killing heroism. I would call the man who made peace with all the muslim countries a hero. Not the man who manages to kill them all off.

putting your life on the line doesnt make you intelligent. that most people volunteer for the money straight out of high school doesn't say much either. soldiers aren't all stupid, generals aren't all smart... and mistakes have been made in the past few years. blind faith in anything gets you nowhere.

that wasn't the point. Conceptkid clearly showed disrespect in his posts. It doesn't matter if mistakes have been made or if not all generals are smart. My reason for pure contempt for conceptkid (in addition to his blatant ignorance) is his complete lack of gratitude for the men and women of the military both past and present that gave and give their lives so that he can maintain his standard of living. Of course he has the right to say and think what he wants, but I have nothing but disgust for his outlook on some of the bravest men and women in this country. I don't care if this was made in the name of humor. That might be true for whoever made the captions in the pictures, but conceptkid's remarks really piss me off. you don't deserve the freedom that you take advantage of.
