I coulda swore he said he would send troops to Pakistan if they didnt do a good enough job keeping shit secure. Did I make that up? I saw it on the news a couple days ago and I've been in disbelief ever since. How dumb does a guy have to be, I thought you had to be smart to run for president but I guess that was asking a bit much. I woulda thought anybody coulda figured out that this country doesn't need another war, not only that be we are already stretched too thin. I'm turning 18 three months before that election and I'm voting for whoever is gonna keep me out of the mideast. He takes it back, or he lost my vote.

Pakistan already has a nuclear program and has developed nuclear weapons. Obama is not an idiot, Pakistan is a threat. Not right now it is not, but if the current government falls it will become a bigger threat than Iraq ever was. Obama said he would send in forces if that was in danger of happening.
I hate the governments of the middle eastern countries. I wish they would just stop fucking around.

i haven't heard this, but i'm sure he's suggesting sending troops there to possibly root out al qaeda since it's known that they are hiding out mainly in afghanistan and pakistan. we keep asking the pakistani government to help us with this goal by doing this for us so we don't have to do it ourselves, and i'm sure this is all that he is saying.

i wish a strong liberal/progressive radical would run for president. i dont think either hillary or obama (or edwards who i dont even bother to consider) really has the radical approach to foreign policy that is inevitably going to come out i nthe next 50 years. as much as everybody hates it, labor, money, and power can be found all over the world, not just in the us. we need to get over being a "leader" and embrace everyone from everywhere. interdependence and peaceful coexistance with china, the middle east, europe, and the world has to come about, yet everyone focuses on preventing it.

Let me put my opinion out here:
No shit, people in all the stans over there want to kill us. They dont want us over there but they would probably kill us anyways. Lets be honest, eventually they will try again. If we weren't dumping billions of dollars into this war we could build a better national defense against the terrorist threat. Theres a chance we could catch some of the fuckers and actually save lives. If we go over there and try to kill them, they just get more pissed off and kill more of us. Lets think here. When we send troops over to all the stans, thousands die at the hand of an enemy that wants to die to kill us. By sending troops over there we guarantee thousands of casualties but cant guarantee victory. If we would get out of there at least we'd have a chance at saving some lives not throwing them away for a cause that cant' be won.

you are misinterpretting what he said. barack said that if there is undeniable evidence of a real threat, and musharaf (pakistani president) wont take action against the threat, then he would send in troops. the grounds for this statement is that al-queda, after being driven out of afganistan, retreated to the ungoverned, desert province of waziristan in pakistan.
