well they both ski bc on opposite sides of the spectrum, so how do you compare them? Theyre both pretty decent.

This is the dumbest thread ive seen in a long while. JP is one of the orignial New Canadian Air Force ( the FIRST twin tip crew). He was the winner of the FIRST US open. Most modern ski style comes from him, including anything in the BC. He helped develop the first 1080s ( the first twin tip out there). There would be no proper new school skiing if it were not for him.
Seth is one of the hardest BC skiers out there right now, but to call him the best would be going a little far. Hugo Harrion, Dan Treadway, Eric Pollard, Ant B, Jamie Pierre, PY Leblanc throw down just as hard, if not harder then he does. He has incredible style, and just has no fear, but i would have to say he is a little bit overated. You can't really compare these two guys.

true, some people act like seth is a god or something. he's just another guy out there, he is very good, but is he the best? i dunno. there might be some who are better pure big mountain skiers (namely hugo). it just depends on your taste.

no, i strongly disagree, jamie pierre is merely a decent big mountain skier, he just has insanely huge balls and jumps off of huge rocks, not to mention about 90% of the time he lands on his back which a monkey can do

Seth has so much more style away from skiing and he rides like a god

thats pretty mean.
Clearly I mean they both have their PHD's in shralping.
But they ski differently. tell me im wrong.
I like JP better anyways. BUt problee cuz you see him do more. big lines, trees, urban, drops, I like the jack of all trades better I suppose. But no one rips a straight open face like seth.

1080 was not the first modern twin. That would be the k2 poacher. rossignol also had a twin come out before the 1080

well, jp didn't even get into big mountain skiing until a few years ago, and seth had already been doing it for several years so seth deffinitely does have more experience at big mountain but that's not to say that jp is way worse cuz he's really sick at it too

Seth has been absoluetly insane for 10+ years now. Go watch some old MSP like sick sense and you will see why he is the best big mountain skier in the world.
He continues to be one of the best.
There are a few guys that are up there with him, but the list is small. If those guys can continue to do it as long and as hard as seth is, than I can see maybe saying that they were as good as him.
But as of yet, I don't think anyone can pass him.

if you want to get super technical, its the Olin mark IV. The 1080 sparked it, and you know it. The poacher came out at the same time, and was develloped by someone in the New Canadian Air Force, Shane Szocs. The twin tip your thinking about is the pow air, which did not come out before the 1080. The designs for the 1080 were pre 1996.

dude look at all the other names i just threw down. Seth never has park parts, and bearly ever goes there. Hugo Harrison, and Dan treadway charge way harder then seth does if you want to go that way. Eric Pollard has way more style, and lands way more tricks in the BC. Jamie Pierre hits stuff that NO HUMAN BEING schould every huck off of ( seth included). No offence but the man throws him self off of 5 story+ size cliffs and lives to tell the tail. At something that size, just surviving it requires balls, never mind landing it.

obviously seth is the legend in Big Mountain, but if i were to stray away from the question, yes, JP is the better all-rounded skier.

hell yea he was! check his segment from 'ski movie 1' but they were doing bc kickers before that, that segment just shows how hard he was ripping back then compared to everyone else
an seth slays big mountain better than jp anyday of the week
in my oppinon the best big mountain skiers are seth and hugo harrison easily
mckonkey is incredible also, although he's semi retired isnt he?

Yep, that about sums it up.
You can say Hugo and Treadway charge as hard on lines and cliffs, but they don't do the same tricks, ridiculously huge backs, fronts, apparently double front is in this year (Believe I think?).

All of these guys everyone has mentioned in this thread have different niches within the sport... People like JP, Pollard and Anthony B do more BC booters and mini golf lines... But thats different than the par4 and 5 lines that Dan Treadway, Hugo and Seth do. Granted Pollard can ski Big mountain lines too. Treadway and Harrison probably charge just as hard if not harder than Seth on big mountain lines but seth throws insane backs and fronts etc. on lines that pretty much no one else would throw anything other than a straight air on. Thats the biggest difference. Thats Seth's niche. He skis the biggest baddest lines and throws down insanity while doing it.

there is no competition. seth almost died in a helicopter crash, and still skis. he is fucking insane, he has been skiing HARD for the past 10+ years like iggyskier said. his style is so amazing, he rips down the hardest shit making it look so easy and is in and escapes more avalanches than anyone. just watch the seth morrison chronicles and you will love they guy. my favorite movie hands down, watch it and you will know who the best is.

Yep, I'm pretty sure they have pretty close to the same skiing ability, but JP is more newschool than seth is in terms of his tricks. But he slays lines like no other also. There are a ton of skiers like him, as you said. Doug Coombs? Crazy shit. Maybe not the same newschool level, but he was also a pioneer.
And the 1080 was NOT the first twin.

k2 poacher or the olin mark iv, can't remember which came first.
I did a report on freestyle skiing some time ago, and I remember the k2 being first so yeah. k2 poacher.
All times are Eastern (-5)
