Is it possible to transport open alcohol (for example, 1/2 a 40 of rum) legally in a car?

when they state open container they mean either an non resealable bottle or something that's open in the car, if it has a cap on it and it's put away you should be set

Atleast in the US it needs to be out of reach of any of the people in the car, or just sealed.

yeah the cop will use his judgement for sure, plus you live in canada so they wont try to fuck you hard at all, here in the US you would probably get 5-10 for that. as long as its out of reach and you are sober im sure you are fine...

Q: What is the "open container" law?
A: Open
container laws prohibit the possession of any open alcoholic beverage
container and the consumption of any alcoholic beverage in the
passenger area of a motor vehicle.

Its not so much that I care about it...but there is a parent that wont let their kid drive with it and is trying to prove a point.
Im trying to get around it by proving to them if its in the bed of the truck, its legal and fine.
