Make sure you commit so you dont land on your head, be 100% sure you are going to do it.

i have done them with basically no air. I just whip them really hard. Commit or you will land on your head.

I depends... jeff thomas doesn't need alot of air because he's short.. me on the other hand (6'1) has to have more air so that you donk bonk your head on the snow as you flip.. you do the math...

like everyone else said, committ, and make sure your gonna do it. Another thing is that you should try it into a soft landing, im from the east, so it was hard, but still possible. It took me awhile to learn this, but don't flip till your off the jump, then you can control yourself in the air. If you start flipping 3/4 the way up the jump, you will get around quicker, but have no control if you over roatate.

back, if u think about its just a 360, even less because if u land on a downslope...a corked 5 is harder

Backflip is the easiest inverted trick. Go for it first before you try anything harder.

if you have enough air to do a 3 you can do a back. just pop off the lip and look back until you see the landing, place feet on the ground and ski away, point fingers like a gun and shoot every one around, cause you just landed your first backflip.

i was thinking you could do a backflip pretty easily if you starting doing a manual/tailpress just before leaving the lip, so you have that backwards momentum as you leave the lip.

yeah thats what alot of beginers do, they don't really do it on purpose but they start the flip so early that it loads up their tails. this definately makes you flip fast and is ok for a small jump but on a bigger jump you will overrotate for sure.
